Okay, I'm back with another question here, just when I thought I wouldn't need to revive this thread. I'm wondering what this Expose is all about? I've been toying with this mac and have found alot of interesting things.

And now I'm stumped by something so simple. My F9 key is blanked out when I hit it to show all open windows. My F10 key blanks out as well. They're programmed in the Expose panel to do what they're supposed to but when I hit the key I get a faded icon with a white circle and a dash through it, meaning it can't be used.

Would anyone know what the problem might be? How does this work with the Dashboard as well? Any help here would be highly appreciated.

Cheers!

I think I held the Fn key, but I'm not sure, short term memory. I'll have to try it when I'm on it tonight. But is it only for those keys, because the other keys work fine without using the Fn key.

Well Deker, as always you were right. However, I never used the Fn key for brightness or volume control, but I do have to use it for F9 and F10 and I never used the Fn key for F11 or F12 either. I'm not sure what it is, but I do have to use the Fn key for the other functions. As always, thanks for your help man, it never goes unappreciated.

Cheers!

I have another question about this Mac. Deker, anybody, maybe you can help me out. I have a Powerbook G4 and was wondering how to clear everything on it.

You know, make it like it was just purchased. I'm thinking of selling it and I want to clear everything off of it so that the new user can fire it up and it'll have that spinning box thingy and lead them to sign up to the machine as their own.

How is that done? Does anyone know, I just want to wipe everything out and leave the HD as new as when it was first bought.

Thanks for your time in advance. Take care and I look forward to some responses.

Cheers!

Deker, thanks for the reply. If I do decide to sell my Powerbook I'll follow your instructions. I'd hate to part with it, but I have some payments to take care of and I'm sure at a later time I'll get my hands on the newer Macbook Pro.

We'll see what happens, because I'm really lovin' this mac I have. Thanks for your reply, I'll keep it handy just in case.

Cheers!
Put in the system restore disc that came with the machine, turn off the computer, turn computer back on while holding down the C button the keyboard to boot from the CD.

Then during the install there will be a customize button with three options. Choose Erase and Install, and it will restore the computer to factory-new condition.
Woohoo!!!
