I am too lazy to read Paavo's post so I will just continue to say what I was going to: Yeah Saddam did bad sh*t, really horrible sh*t but isn't it such a coincidence that he also had a sh*tload of oil? And why couldn't the US wait for a multi-lateral approach. Also the reasons for Bush's Oil War that were given before the war had to do with terrorism and Saddam's threat to Israel and the US. Only after the WMD were unable to be located did the reasons change to his "compassionate" stance. Actually I have read part of Paavo's post while writing this and I agree and whole lot. Bush wrapped himself in the flag and used it as a reason to make him and his buddies (read: Cheney + Halliburton) money. Here is a lesson for non-Americans: Americans always need something to fear, and it has to be different. It was communism now it's terrorism. Terrorism has been going on for decades outside the US, but we don't care unless it happens to us, then we bomb the sh*t out of anyone who looks like a communist/terrorist. The United States does what it wants in the name of "goodness" and ignores all "good" actions that will not benefit them. I also have a big problem with Bush's tendency to view the world as "good" and "evil," the world is not that simple. I also have a problem with how incredibly dumb he is. But that's another story. |

It's not the fact that I'm not using great grammer and punctuation. It's the fact that I've been in so many of these descusions that it just gets old. People hate bush great, wonderful. Some people think he is a great prez. we arent gunna change each others mind. I have my thoughts on the war and everything but i feel no need to talk about them to people that are going to put them down there is no point. so untill i'm 18 and can vote for what prez i want then i can talk... Thank you very much. AF |

100% Serious. Yale grad with a Harvard MBA. Actually, I think he beat Gore on the SAT's or something like that...I'll have to look for that one. Bush is nailing every one of the promises he has made. From the economy to medicare to capturing Saddam. And for those of you still on about the war being about oil.... We have Iraq restored to making close to 2.3 million barrels consistently. That's higher than what their top peaks used to be under Saddam. The U.S. is NOT in charge of any of those oil fields, unless they are in the process of being restored. Once they work they go back into the hands of the Iraqi's. One of the highest ranking Iraqi general's made the tip to British Intelligence saying that Saddam had WMD's - he was in charge of a crap load of them! There has been discoveries of weapons grade chemicals all over the place. Now I would love to see proof that you guys get more inside information about terrorism than the CIA, NSA and FBI. Cause you sure are talking like it. Just because you don't see the link between Al Quaeda and Saddam (oh, and Al Quaeda fighters were caught shooting side by side with Saddam's army) doesn't mean there isn't a link there. And we're still on the intelligence thing? Aside from afguy's wonderful post (beat me to it), a man who is as incompetent as you'd like us to believe sure is fulfilling a great deal of his promises. The economy exploded in the third quarter, the Deck of Cards is being collected quite rapidly, and there is a ton of work being done on Medicare in congress... Oh, and as for that "Bush is putting millions of people out of jobs" blah blah blah. The Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the employed civilian labor force had 135,999,000 workers during the early days of the recession in January 2001 - when Bill Clinton left office. The employed civilian labor force at the end of last month, with the recession long over, was 138,603,000. Those raw numbers show 2.6 million MORE jobs now. |

This week, the House passed a spending bill that could cut overtime benefits for nearly 8 million Americans. Thanks Bush |

And I for one can guarantee this war was not about oil. I'm paying higher gas prices now than I was before the war...whomever thinks that this war was over oil is crazy. We have spent FAR more money on the war than we ever would have saved in getting more oil....FAR more. I paid $1.72/gallon for gas this weekend. That's $31.00 to fill up my tank. If this war was for oil then I'm not seeing it.

Since there was no bill number listed in that very informative article, I had to do a little looking... http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d108:5:./temp/~bdO7e1::|/bss/d108query.html| S.292 Title: A bill to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to exempt licensed funeral directors and licensed embalmers from the minimum wage and overtime compensation requirements of that Act. and S.237 Title: A bill to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to clarify the exemption from the minimum wage and overtime compensation requirements of that Act for certain construction engineering and design professionals. Now the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 is right here in case you wanted to see it. http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/29/ch8.html |
