Okay Slim, Here's my deal. I'm running on Me and I had found this thread from a while back originally started by Gecko. I have been reducing in memory and every time I start to run Photoshop it gives me a "disk cleanup" and tells me I'm running low. The other day I couldn't even get Photoshop to open until about 5 times later and deleting my settings. Finally it cranked. These problems started after installing a new CD-RW so I had to take it out and uninstall the software it came with. My question is why is my memory reducing each time it restarts? Oh yeah, and what is virutal memory? So I figured, from the original post, that it was the _restore folder. I would go to My Computer, right click, hit properties and disable the system restore, but it would not uncheck, it's checked already and I try to remove it, it restarts but then shows checked. Heck, I don't get it but this wasn't happening before. I'm getting ready to go through an entire upgrade soon, but I need this to last me to finish some jobs, and I hope it's not getting ready to crash! Any help is appreciated....cheers! |

Thanks for the help mattboy, but I'm still reducing in space/memory. I'll have to keep reviewing for more answers. But thanks, seriously, it's helpful. Cheers! |

Marble, When I start up my computer I have a good amount of memory. It shows 300MB then I fire up Photoshop and my "disk cleanup" comes on. Then it says, you have 71mb left. Then later it comes on and says "you have 30mb left" then later it comes on and says you have 15mb left" until it comes down to 9mb. Although the other day it did read at "0". But these notices come on like every hour or 2 hours. So I don't know what is happening. Until eventually I have to restart. But my nephew got me a nice CD-RW for Christmas and as soon as I installed it, my whole system started trippin' on me. So I put the old one back in and it's fine, somewhat, but this happened before when I tried installing another CD-RW in. The guy who normally handles this stuff for me is out of town for another week and I need to be able to take care of this thing for now. I just don't want it to crash cuz I have work to produce here. Any help would be great. Thanks a million for all of the help all of you have offered. Cheers! |

I can't believe it. All the PC users start saying stuff to defend their own system, and Mac users DO harrass the hell out of them, until WHAM! Paavo flips out, and the Mac users go, "Ok, ok. Sorry. I guess you're kind of right." Talk about hypocritical. Good fricking riddance. I am of the same opinion. If you'll notice, I don't even post serious threads in mac vs pc threads anymore, just crack some lame joke about penises or something (something I do all the time) Just STOP! PC users are to blame for this too! Every thread that is even RELATED to mac will have something about PCs in it. like the whole deal with the mile long line to the apple store, and some retarded pc user goes "Hey macs suck pc lines are like 2 MILES LONG HAGAH" You could even probably say "YEah I went and ate a Big Mac for lunch" and even THAT would spawn into a hellish fight about macs vs. pcs. just .. GRR *stabs eyes with pencils* |

Nobody has even mentioned the Mac on this page of the thread... That part of the discussion is from when the thread first started, now zerimar is just trying to figure out how to fix his Windows machine, why are you bringing up the Mac vs. PC thing again?

Ok, maybe its not the smartest thing to delete the _restore folder, but I did, and I didn't have any problems, not to mention I don't really care about the folder, as ME's restore thing never ever worked ONCE for me. Ok, so this is how you find the _restore folder: Open windows explorer, then go into the c: drive, then on the top bar (where it says file and stuff) click tools, then click folder options, then in folder options click the "view" tab, then in advanced settings there should be a place where you can click to show hidden files. Now, in c: drive (you may need to refresh view) you should be able to see the _restore folder. Now just delete it at will. Thats what I did anyways. Mattboy, I had disabled it and renabled and disabled it again (per some things I read to get rid of it) but it was still there! So, this is the only way I know how to fix it, and it didn't cause me any problems. I'm on ME too. Xp is different in that it probably works right :s I ate a bigmac for lunch today lol :D |

Okay, I didn't delete the _restore folder, but my memory is back and it's not decreasing. I dont' know what I did, but I was playing around with a few things here and there and it's fine. I guess I'll know later if I made any mistakes, but thank you all for your help. Cheers! |
