Much more complicated than that, unfortunately. I'll need some help from some of the Mods on this one, probably. But I'll take a shot....

if you embed a profile, your design will stick with it, theoretically... You will notice, however, about a 10 percent lighter image on your display, because of the way mac displays color.
The Mac color advantage people talk about is ColorSync, which is unavailable for PC's. (Why? no idea). ColorSync allows you to compensate for your monitor or your printer inconsistencies. Also, you can dial in (calibrate) a workflow of Mac's with the same profile so you don't have one mac that creates darker images than your other macs do, for example.
PC uses ICC profiles. Which completely *BAFFLE* me. Anyone want to dig in on that one?

alienware can kiss my *insert word of choice here*. they sent one of my business partners a machine that blew a motherboard, and have supposedly sent a replacement for that no less than five times, of which we've recieved zero of. i worked my way onto the "we get thru directly to the head of tech support because we've messed up these guys' order so bad" list and they still NEVER actually fixed the problem.

guys i would order from: http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/

they got us a custom-spec'ed athlong in like three days from the time we ordered till the time it arrived on our doorstep, and its been great.

fig, everyone has their own stories of places. overall, i belive alienware would be the better or the two and yes, they may have fudged up with you and possibly a few other people, but overall, im sure they are a 4.5 out of 5 stars :

no, i havent dealt with alienware myself, but this baically applys to most big companies. they are bound the mess up royally with a few customers, but you have to think overall, that's what i try to do.

just my 2 cents. :D

I'm starting to worry about HPQ. I don't want Compaq support for my HP laptop, and I don't want to lose HP quality on future HPQ purchases... Am I completely misinformed about the merge? Does anybody here have any comments on the matter? When will the Office Max stock boy stop talking about machines he knows nothing about?

well, you're basing what you think on what, if i can ask? not being critical, just thinking logically here. i mean, do you really think that the ratings given companies by magazines, etc., are completely unbiased. suuuuuure

very simply, yes, they did mess up, which happens, i understand and have no problem with that. thing is, they had NUMEROUS chances to fix it and flat-out lied about sending us a new motherboard on no less than 5 occasions. that's what i have a problem with. and that's not, oh, this is what i heard happened to some guy, this is firsthand experience that happened to me as i talked with these people many times on the phone. i've got no reason to think they haven't lied to other customers too, they've done nothing to show me otherwise. but you're sure they're a 4.5 star company based on...? just doesn't make sense...

fig, im basing it on the fact that my cousin bought 3 brand new alienware systems with no hassle at all. and i wasnt really talking about alienware alone, i was using that as an example for all major computer manufacturers. no, i havent had a first hand experience with a computer manufacturer, but i was just providing what i thought from personal reviews, online forums, my cousin (who, like i said, recently bought 3 brand new systems) as well as magazines, though may be biased, do have some honest opinions in there.

anyway, lets just drop this, lol, i dont feel like wasting anymore time on this. :p

yea he really is. $400,000+ house in new jersey, in new jersey, thats like a $1,000,000+ house in like pennsylvania. they get 3 new systems every year, and he has like 3 mercedes, one of those projector tvs with the movie screen that comes down when you turn it on, satellite along with digital cable, and each alienware system cost about $4,600 with burner, dvd-rw,p4 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, 200gb HDs(he will never use that much) and like 22" monitors for two of them and 19" flat screen for one.

im very very very very jealous, lol. only thing that keeps me going is the fact that i know a ton more concerning comps than he does :D
