The point of using a mac these days is? All graphic formats are interchangable between macs and pcs. Beyond the built-in color management in a mac OS, I see no point in them at all. Just an over hyped computer manufacturer that sells its customers a different cpu and OS. |

I dont see a war here. A mac is a pc. Its just branded a different name by the company that manufactures it. Differing only in its processor and software.

i, and i'm sure everyone else here knows it's a pc (PC=personal computer for those who dont know :p) BUT, 'PC' has come to be known as windows based computers and 'MACS', as macintoshes/apple computers mainly because of the different OSes. therefore, i, like other people, just use the most widely accepted terms for each type of computer. we're not trying to be technical, it's just a matter of being short and getting right to the point.

I'll argue with you on that one. Owned a Compaq, never again... Owned an HP. Went out and bought a brand new one this year and would probably buy another one. Never had a single prob with it. Except when I upgraded my old one to win2k pro. But got it working with driver updates good as new. Just took some tweaking. New one came with XP home, upgraded to pro and have had zero prob's so far... |

Well HP is better than compaq as far as stability and not making crap computers, I was just saying if you are wanting performance, you might as well build it yourself or get it from one of the high-performance builders. Because an HP is still probably not going to be as fast as a custom built system or one you build your own. Plus you can get a window in your case with a sound sensitive neon light from the other places! Wow! Everyone I know that has a compaq hates it... I've never heard too much trouble out of HP... Just stay far away from Compaqs. |

Compaq's are pretty crappy, I got rid of it ASAP. Hey mrbogus, Technically, PC's are Mac's, if you know your computer history. I can personally vouche for Mac. Here's my opinion: (drumroll please) *IF* you design for output at professional print companies, your life will be a hell of alot easier if you use a Macintosh. When you come to terms with that, not only will your color come out much more accurately, but you won't have font issues, removable media issues, virus issues, and this stupid argument ever again. (forgive me if I've added fuel to the fire here, but I recently justified buying a sweet new G4 and pushing this P4 to the curb - well, sort of, now it's my ripstation... oh well, to each his own, right?... right?!) |

i have a question. lets say i make an image on a PC and then open it in mac and print it, would it print the way it looks more accurately with the mac, or will it print like a pc and not print as accurately OR will the colors shift once you put it on a mac so you have to make the entire image again to your liking? i dont know much of anything about printing, so i was just curious about this. |
