Isn't it nice how graphicsguy has stayed out of this one? ;) My opinion: It's typical for a bunch of old wealthy white men to legislate an issue that resides mostly in young middle to lower class minority women. |

You know what, I can follow this logic to... a logical conclusion.>>> [unwanted logic]You know what; I don't feel like taking care of my aging parents anymore. I mean, their productive years are shot. They're not going to make any more meaningful contributions to society. We should just abort the old people, I mean, that's not really killing. We're just leaving more social security money for future generations.[/unwanted logic] I can't help but wonder with the huge numbers of abortions in this country just how many times we've killed off someone who had the genius to find the cure for cancer. How many times have we killed off a man or woman who was going to bring about a peaceful conclusion to the conflict in the Middle East. Not pulling on the heart strings yet? Do you believe you have a soul? How many times have we snuffed out the light of a beautiful soul before the child could laugh and bless someone around them with a smile? The Bible tells us that God knit us together in our mother's womb. He knows the number of the hairs on our head--do you think this same God doesn't weep every time some woman uses her 'right' to choose to destroy what he is designing? Okay, I'll switch gears now away from my personal convictions to a VERY interesting law which will most likely be signed by the President before too long. http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/abortion/unbornbill32504.html :D |

Actually I am going to change my view. I think that it is everyone woman's personal choice. It's their baby so they should make the choice, no other person should be able to force their moral standing onto someone else. And don't bring god(s) into this. It has nothing to do with it. This is a secular nation and god has no place in laws. |

Good points, Malibu - but, as usual, we disagree on political issue number 45,667,728,343.9711. I think GeeDub's Biblical Presidency is going to screw pretty much everyone in the end, and this issue's no different. This Legislature is so far from common citizens that I expect absolutely no different. 1.That law will lead to more back-alley coat-hanger style abortions. Period. 2. If the morons running this country had any ties to anyone who has ever actually had an abortion, they'd have educated, qualified medical experts along with sociological research to prove that this is a really, really bad idea. But, they all are in this presidency. It fits. It's another issue to try to get votes, they really do not care about the consequences of this issue. It's a smokescreen, a diversion, and we're all suckers for it. 3. The Bible won't make this issue go away. No matter how hard a pregnant woman prays that she didn't get pregnant, that baby is still in her womb. 4. The same socially disconnected lawmakers that ignorantly pass abortion laws also vote against putting condoms in schools and other forms of sexual education. What the hell is that about? 5. Did the Million-woman strong protest last weekend in D.C say anything at all? Dude, there are a million of 'em - I bet some of them are Christians, too! I'm betting some of them even vote... I hope they do. isn't this fun? Nice thread. You've made me out to be a hippie lefty again... thanks |

I have hope for you (and I pray for you) graphicsguy!!! I figger once you start making more and more money, you'll become more and more conservative!!! Tele: Since WHEN has anyone had the right to choose to murder someone else? You didn't even use the 'politically correct' rhetoric to cover yourself. You said, "it's their baby"... you're supposed to say "fetus" so that you cover up the fact you're condoning murder. I went searching for news articles about the 'Million Women March'; sidebar--how many Million Whosits Marches are we gonna have, this is at least the 3rd attempt by Femi-nazis I've heard of, and apparently they had nowhere near 1 million people. Their own websites said they hoped for 800,000; news accounts say "thousands". Whatever. BUT, what I found exciting in my Googling was articles like this >>> http://www.motherjones.com/news/dailymojo/2004/04/04_533.html that show that they are ON THE RUN. It turns out that apparently our country as a whole is anti-abortion (except in the rape, incest, life-threatening thing). State after state is moving towards trying to overturn Roe-v-Wade! :D :D :D :D |
Since WHEN has anyone had the right to choose to murder someone else?
For mankind, since our inception as a species with free will. For Americans, since abortions were made legal. While the matter is not settling at all, and I would support any child I had rather than abort it most people who have abortions are not in my position. I support planned parenthood and safe sex but if someone wishes to have an abortion then it's their baby and their choice.
You didn't even use the 'politically correct' rhetoric to cover yourself. You said, "it's their baby"... you're supposed to say "fetus" so that you cover up the fact you're condoning murder.
Where did this come from? The world is not black and white, my friend, everyone is not in one camp or another. I said what I meant and meant what I said. |

Tele, Andrea Yates killed her children too, but it's OK, because they were her children right? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=andrea+yates |

Oh, I miss understood you, Tele. If I understood you correctly NOW, what you're saying is that you acknowledge that abortion is murder; but your view is that it's okay for the woman to kill her baby because it's hers...

I'm with mattboy and malibu. It is murder, so what's the difference? If you believe in abortion, I might as well go and kill someone and still consider it legal. It still has a soul, and for that reason, it is a wrong thing to do. And I did read the other posts, I am going of what I believe.
