Damn, a guy takes a few days off the team ps forum, and another darn mac argument pops up - sheesh. Let's try this again, take notes this time!!! :D 1.8 G5 @ home: runs perfectly, rocks in every way. Worth every penny. Zero complaints... 1.6 G5 @ work: runs perfectly, never been more productive, cranked out more designs in three days this week than the last 2 weeks combined. combined times crashing: 1. (That was because I was too stupid to figure out my iPod software install). 2.x GHz, 1 GB RAM Video-enhanced PC @ work: inch of dust on it. I used it once to download photos from a digital camera, and it was such a pain in the ass, I never went back. The screensaver is kinda cool, I guess... My opinion, only, fellas, but - the new G5, combined with OSX - has taken the Macintosh platform above and beyond anyone's expectations, myself included. - Hell, I've been happy with the Mac, despite "Force Quitting", "starting from the OS 9.2 CD", using the "Extensions Manager", "re-blessing my system folder" and hitting that damn restart button on the front of my macs since 1993. I'm impressed by the new stuff more than anyone. Change that, I'm blown away. My point, (finally, eh?) is - just accept it, the new Mac is THE machine for our field. Just evolve with it, and life gets alot easier on a designer. Now, don't get me wrong, PC guys and gals, you can still check your email and play a mean game of star wars galaxies with your boy, Bill - but in the meantime, designers are going to be more powerful and more productive, while taking the design field to a new level. (to answer your question, Malibu - yes! - YES! YES! YES! OH YES!!) |

I still see Mac users OPINIONS, but have read no solid evidence (in the years this has been going on) that the Mac is THE machine for web design and development. The users are the one reason I despise the machine so much, no offense to my friends here who are Mac users, but I feel I'm talking to an Animal Rights Activist or something who swears up and down to me that eating plants is the way to go and the perfect future for the world. Same with Linux users, who float in half the water Win/Mac users do. No solid foundation, just alot of personal opinion. In my years of Photoshop, Flash, Lightwave, etc, I've never found myself saying "damn I need a Mac to do this". I say, damn this 2 year old 900Mhz Windows machine is cranking stuff out left and right, and plays every game I want and runs every form of software I want, no porting needed. Need a new part, seamless replacement, and plenty of room to do it with (I still remember the desk lamp they put out :p). As I've said, it's what the end-user PREFERS, not which is better. Mac users say the Mac is better, Windows users say Windows does it all. Can't anyone ever just leave it at that? No one is ever going to sway the other (other than those easily swayed by anything). It's like Ford vs. Chevy, that debate has been going since the dawn of the Ford and Chevy, and no one wins. Be happy with what you use, use what you're happy with and don't think you need to convert the world to YOUR CHOICE. That's all it is. (side note: I've read articles/comparisons/charts to no end. They prove nothing, except what the end-user who writes the article want to prove themselves. I've seen PCs beat a Mac, I've seen Macs beat a Windows machine. Nothing ever proved, except the ego to the user who wrote the stuff). I will still crank out graphics and websites with this machine and I'll do it with confidence like I always have. I've been doing it that way for a decade or more, and I've yet to see a problem. (not the same PC, lol, but a Windows machine of some sort). |

That was a nice little post until you said: Then you lost all credibility and just became another mac basher. Oh well. |

Oh it was a nice little computer, just had zero flexibility, as opposed to a PC tower, with room to work in, upgrade, add, etc. But I mean. it did look like one. :p I was making a point there, it just sounded like a bash. :o I was ONLY pointing towards that one particular model, not Macs as a whole. I mean [i hate to go back to this example], but every Chevy truck put out since the beginning has not been the greatest, but just because I dislike one model, doesn't mean I hate Chevy trucks as a whole. I just may not prefer to drive a Chevy, that's all. And no, Chevy lovers, I'm just using Chevy as an example, not bashing it. |
