As people say it's Pank's secret. Many have asked...none got the answer. The technique remains secret. Sorry.

Filter->Render->Pank, Set bevel settings to "No," and check the box next to it, should be labeled: "No."

as i mentioned in another(cross) post create the shape using either the Shape Tool, Pen Tool or Lasso Tool in this case i used the Ellipse Tool (on on the same shape i applied the Subtract From Shape option' from th e options toolbar to get the tube shape (requires Freehand Trasform/Distort) from there its all Belending Modes as i have achieved below hope this helps no special filters used at all, and effortless to say the least certainly more can be done with this... heathrowe |

He is a good guy and that is a great way of doing it, it's just not how I did it His effect is probably the best I have seen. But if you really look closely there is a difference. Sorry... Had to say that ;) |

that pank is a teaser isn't he tnx pank for the comps I figured it would be hard to guess how u did it -- and im sure one of hundreds of ways of achieving the same thing in Photoshop and building upon what i already did and could not achieve just using blending modes ( for the orange tube) I drew out a single outline to the curve using the Pen Tool and applied stroke to the path, then Gaussian Blur then repeated it moving the outline at diff posttions... as u can see im getting closer to the effect on the orange tube... in the words of one of my fav indie rock band - Yo La Tengo 'hank panky know how' heathrowe |

Try taking a glossy layer and putting it over the tubes on a layer mode. Yours just aren't shiny enough. Or maybe try filter >>> render >>> lighting effect. They just have to be more shiny. But you're getting closer, and if you do get the effect, Pank will have to redo the TeamPS site...:D |
