It doesn't matter if they were going to buy it or not. They are using it for free. When you buy software you are buying the right to use the software. If you don't pay for it, then you are stealing it. What should happen is, those people that wouldn't have bought it anyway, wouldn't buy it, or use it. If they decided to use it, then they'd buy it. Say I wasn't planning on buying a car, but then I saw that I could easily steal one without someone finding out... that doesn't make it ok to steal it, just because I 'wasn't planning on getting one anyway'. |

http://news.com.com/2100-1040-838300.html "Game industry reports 1.9 billion dollar loss due to piracy" That's just the game industry! Their software costs $50, tops. Imagine what that number is for programs like photoshop, $600 a piece; maya, $8,000 a piece; 3dsmax, several thousand a piece; MS Office, $500; illustrator $400... etc... etc... that adds up a lot faster than $50. "According to a Business Software Alliance study, in 2000 software piracy resulted in the loss of $12 billion in revenue worldwide, which translates to nearly 106,700 lost jobs and more than $5 billion in unrealized wages in the United States alone." Taken from this article... http://investor.cnet.com/investor/news/newsitem/0-9900-1028-8152040-0.html They don't lose that much busines... hah.... |

My point is that they lose tons of money. When you said that it wasn't that much so it doesn't really matter either way.

What if they decide there isn't a legit market for their software and only sell it to movie companies? Every sale counts big. George Lucas and That Macintosh Dude don't need to be the only support for design software companies.

Don't put me back in the cage. I live in the free world now. I won't hurt anybody. FREE PHOTOSHOP 7 UPGRADES ON BONAMO! pank: I was going to say something but I thought that it might make Mrs. Deker realize what a loser her hubby is and Dek would have to marry Axiom. Not good for any of the involved parties. |
