Oh, well I naturally assume that most people who don't work and are in public school have pirated the software. Its the hardware that is paid for by the parents, which maybe I should have clarified first. |

I don't think having your parents get you a computer is being spoiled... You just sound jealous to me.... My parents bought me my first computer when I was like 12, and because of that I was able to start a web design business with my dad quite a few years later. Of course most kids would just use the computer for games and porn, which I did too at first... but anyway. I don't think you're spoiled just because you have a computer. |

I'm saying that kids these days have access to stuff I never had access to. I had access to pcs, but nothing close to the realm of the hardware and software that runs photoshop. I mentioned in an earlier post what I had around me. DOS based and other crappy graphics progs. Today, kids pirate photoshop and have access to the most powerful tools around.

Yes, that is true. But it's kind of cool too. I mean not that people steal software, but that it is possible to have access to it. Even at school or something. It's not like other professions like the medical field where you have to go to school for 10 something years before you get to touch your first patient... with computers you just jump right in and teach yourself. |

I agree with deker 100% about the medical profession analogy, -BUT- I'd like to think someone like myself (and many of you) with 9-10 years photoshop experience is way better at our chosen skill than some newbie kid who hacked photoshop after school on daddy's laptop. Trust me, I just recieved a file from such a kid as "artwork" a low-res 2 inch by 2 inch .bmp file for a 5 foot vehicle sign... |

Well of course the guys with experience are better... That's a given. Just with this whole internet thing most people would rather pay a 15 year old kid $200 for a web site rather than pay a professional $10,000 to do the same site. That usually only happens once though... they realize their mistake in hiring someone inexperienced, and then end up going to the pros anyway... just have to be patient. they will come.

No wonder most people vote for Dan. I've got a bad haircut and he has a big forehead. And he gets to go on spacewalks and gets a rally car. Talk about spoiled.
