Apple's prices are fixed, Mattboy, they can't sell them for less. Unless it's used or refurbished. They just add on extra RAM and stuff to entice you to buy, rather than lowering the price.

Anybody want to invest some money? I'll sell 30 $100 shares. It's a worthwhile investment, I promise.

Ok, I've made up my mind. I'm gonna get a 17" powerbook. I'm taking out a student loan to get it. I figure it'll be a year at least before they make a G5 Powerbook, and I really like having a laptop, so... Yeah. According to apple, it is the "Year of the laptop" |

Great decision pganguly, it's a work of art...oh yeah, it's a computer too! I just bought a new 17' laptop..not mac though. I need it for England (college) and the mac was both too expensive and the software i'll be using (3DSM is PC only) I got this laptop...looks nice enough. Has a sub woofer! 17' is essential for animation.. http://www.meshcomputers.com/updated/powerview_171.htm |

The 17" is too big in my opinion. Not to say you made a bad decision or anything... I would love to have one. it's just rather on the huge side. I saw some 17" PC laptops the other day. they were enormous. hideous. terrible. like 2" thick. at least the powerbook is still less than an inch thick. it almost looks too thin actually. like it would break in half. but it felt sturdy when i saw one. I would get a 12" powerbook and an eMac or imac or something instead though. it would be about the same money... |

geez! a 17 foot laptop is HUGE! :D digressing, i was actually just thinking the same thing on the iMac's deker. a friend of mine has one and i checked it out last week, the 17" screen on that looks BIG, even the 15" looks more like a normal 17" monitor. at 1ghz with some extra RAM and a superdrive, that's a respectable machine for doing some cool video/graphic stuff. anybody using one? chris |

Well if I were to actually get a laptop, I'd get the Sony 10" laptop. You can get a 12-hour battery for it. 12-hour battery. 12-hour battery. I can't say that enough times. I'd just have my wife drive me around for 12 hours to prove to myself that it will actually last 12 hours playing movies.

Woah Cybling! That PC's pretty nice, although it is a powerbook clone (jk) Either way, I like the built-in camera and subwoofer. It's about time that someone realized that it's ok if these things weigh a little bit more. You're never gonna be carrying them around for hours on end without setting them down. Actually, it's an interesting thing that you showed us this particular PC, having a sub and all, because I was unaware that they existed, and that I am an 'amateur' industrial designer, I sketched out a concept for a laptop with like, big speakers, and a sub, and everything. Of course, it'd have like a 23" display. Mind you, it's all theoretical, but it'd be sweet. |
