simple simple simple simplicity is key. gotta be pleasing to the eye too :P yeah but really anything original, flash or html. Whatever. Just aslong as the flash isn't tasteless. Tasteless can't be definited; it isjust something you ... know. This is incorrect moochan, the thing is that different browsers will view the same html file differently. that's one problem when considering differences between, for example, IE and Netscape. With flash, a plugin is required, but regardless of the browser, the plugin is the same. As a result, everyone will view the same flash file in the same way. |

Little bit a this, little bit a that... doesn't matter if it is flash, html etc... I like unique sites, that work well. That don't take forever to load and are user friendly. Don't mind if there is lots of eyecandy either. :D

True...true.. :p It depends on the purpose of the site. If it's a personal portfolio kindof thing, which I visit once and never return to again, it's ok to load for a while and have weird navigations and lots of eyecandy. But if the site actually has a purpose...as in google or other "real" websites, it should be damn simple and quick..and most of all, straight to the point. Eyecandy is ok, but only if it doesn't stand in the way of the content itself. I also dislike flash unless it serves a decent purpose. People make too many navigations in flash just to get "cool rollovers", which is alright, but they don't seem to understand that so much is possible using animated GIFs and / or a bit of creativity. The main things I dislike about flash sites is the fact that you need the plugin (no biggie per se..), and that I can't see where a button links me if I click it. Also, I'm a view source - junkie and everything that comes with HTML. But that's just me. :p Oh!, and the fact that you can't use the mouse's roll-button to scroll content-areas.. >_< Also, I like sites with sh*tloads of content...or at least look like they do. Things I hate with a passion; - the words "welcome to my corner on the web". - stupid color combinations that hurt the eyes. - people fiddling with the statusbar just because they know how to paste some silly CSS / JavaScript code that does that. - people using images for spaces that are only one colour. - .:*~decorations like this~*:. - pixelfonts with antialiazing - "cool" animated GIFs that aren't theirs - disabled rightclicks and that silly childish crap - "make this your homepage" - links..if I want to make it my homepage, I know how to do that! - intros without a "skip intro" button...well, intros all together really. - background wav's / MP3's that can't be stopped. - Java applets. Unless you're running a chat or something, you don't need them!!!! - Splash pages without a real purpose. ...this leaving out lots, and all the obvious stuff...lensflares, ugly designs and all that. :D I'll try and come up with more stuff I don't want to see on a website.. hihi. *throws a bottle at a site with stupid stuff on it* ¬_¬ |
