All right, usually I bash macs. But it is time in my life where I now am going to start college doing graphic design and I got a internship doing it. This led me to looking into getting a laptop. Big things I kept in mind was battery life, hd space, and ram.

I then came across the ibook.

6 hours of battery life on a single charge. This out does all the ones I looked at.

1 firewire port
2 usb
video out
60 hd
640 ram
900mhz
ati radeon 7500 g-card
wireless card
100mbps ethernet port
56k port
14 inch monitor display
dvd/cdrw-"combo drive"

All just 4.9 pounds in a sleek white color clam design

And another option that amazed me is "rondeview"(sp?) Its a dynamic dns system based on zeroconf, so when you get on a netowork you are updated on all the services that are avalible to you.

Being a networking guy/wireless I then again frowned upon the o/s but then read that you can go command line!

So if all goes well I'll be getting a mac. Its no gaming machine, but I have that at home! so mac will be my mobile graphics station.

Take a look at the 12" Powerbook too. It's the same price as that 14" iBook, only you get the G4 instead of the G3. And for $200 more, you can get a superdrive in it.

Silly Mac basher, you didn't even know about rendezvous or the command line but bash it anyway. . . For shame.

No matter what, they are more power-efficient than any windows machine available anywhere, at any price.

Give it a fair shake, Michael and I'm sure you'll be happy you got a Mac.

well thats not 100% true, ibm think pad t40 has great battery life, 7+ hours. although it is 3200 dollars but it still beats it.

but ibooks are cool, if you can deal with the 1024x768. personally i cant thats why i go with ti powerbook. anyway have fun with it, im sure you will.
