Those particular images (the one in the bg) are done in 3DS Max using random curves, extrude and spiral. Another example of that 'trendwhore' stuff is here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/776294 Heres a site with some more tutorials that should help althou it isn't exactly specific to what you need: http://interneteye3d.com/Tutorials/default.asp I'll find the correct tutorial later tonite for you. |

That BG is just a simple Render->Clouds filter with a few distort filters on it...

This is sort of a quickie method: 1. Create a new project with the right dimensions or larger than what you need (you can always hack off a bit.) 2. Make a new layer Layer --> New --> Layer. (or the shortcut, just click the new layer icon on the bottom of the layers pallet.) 3. Make the foreground color Black. (choose the color, and make sure your new layer is highlighted.) hit alt + backspace (on pc, mac?) and that will fill the current layer with black. 4. Now go to Filter --> Render --> Difference Clouds. 5. I hit Image --> Adjustments --> AutoContrast to make the clouds more contrasting. 6. Now Filter --> Distort --> Wave and mess with the settings to get the desired affect, or create your own from there. You might want to save the Clouds layer and use duplicates of it and try some stuff out. 7. Now if you want it blue, a quick way is: Image --> Adjustments --> Variations. Click on the Blue (more if you want more blue), or you can choose the blue color you want fill in a layer above the cloud layer and choose a layer mode like Overlay or Multiply and adjust the layer opacity. Now remeber this is using random generating filters, so you wont get the exact same patterns as the demo you showed, but the effect should be similar. I dont know if this is their way of doing it, but that is what I saw in it. Cheers =) |

Thanks for replying, but doing what Marble described, I could not get the effect that http://www.dbznoreturn.com had in the background of his banner. Can anybody find a guide or give steps to create the banner image. Or give exact numbers for using Distort --> Wave as Marble said?

With the wave distort you dont need to change it much. I almost replicated it exactly with running through it once, so if you follow what I said then you can get it. I will try it out tomorrow and post an example of what I got.
