I'd say just follow the standards proposed by W3C and then your good to go because most of the newer browsers are becoming more and more standard.

Interesting point Hunkorama. Since you suggested it, what can you tell me about their Amaya browser/editor? Have you or has anyone used it and what are your thoughts in using it for design purposes?

Netscape sucks. Screw standards compliance too. Just make your site look good in IE. Then Make a script that says "Hey dummy, your browser sucks. Get IE" if they aren't using IE to view your site.

actually if it were "3 hundred trillian" i'm pretty sure it'd be a lot more than 8% of the current total. ferris bueller = teh win.

the thing about netscape mail that pisses me off, if you're on AIM it automatically logs you in on that screen name, like a blind bitch. stupid ass bastards

actually, im using opera right now. it cloaks itself as IE and Netscape, so your numbers are by far, inaccurate.

Oh wait... is this the infamous "Since *I* do it, the rest of the world must do it too" mentality? Or do you have some sort of statistical data that supports your claim of these inaccurate (by far) numbers?

Perhaps it's purely *coincidental* that all of the sources I listed essentially correlate the same data, but I'll take them over one man's notion that his own personal preferences must surely coincide with the rest of the world.

Anyway...

I think he was just referring to the fact that Opera identifies itself as IE by default. So unless you manually go in there and tell it to report itself as Opera, every Opera browser ever is tagged as IE in a sites stats... Which would obviously throw off the numbers a little bit.
