Generally speaking, all versions of Netscape and Opera combined account for around 8% of browsers being used on the Internet. Even with Mozilla added, which I couldn't find stats for, probably is still about 8% total. I wouldn't feel too guilty as a designer if things don't look exactly like you want them to in these browsers.

I made them up just to look cool and knowledgeable in front of all you guys. Were you impressed? Actually, I got them by looking here... http://www.thecounter.com/stats/ (pick a month and click on *browsers*) and here... http://www.upsdell.com/BrowserNews/stat.htm although this site reflects both a lower *and * higher percentage than 8% depending on the source you look at. and here... http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp All in all, it's probably still around 8% or so on average depending on whose numbers you are looking at. |

That's just the percentage. Look at the actual numbers instead Opera - 3,113,504 Not to mention that you can cloak Opera as IE I'm sure some designer is one of those 3 million. 3 million isn't a small number. Just my 2cents |

Whether it's 3, 3 million or 3 hundred trillion, it's still only 8% which is statistically insignifigant compared to the entire population. By the same numbers - 12,730,040 view at 640x480 which is 3%. You going to design your site for them too???? |

Oh and 48,503,653 don't use JavaScript. 15,126,010 only have 256 colors on their monitor (with 119,819 having only 16 colors). 1,540,003 still use Windows 3.x OS and 500,000 users browse using IE 2 or 3. If you design for the numbers instead of the percentages, you'll have a hard time making a site that looks *good* to 92% of all of the visitors who see it. Just *my* 2 cents... |
