Fig, you are one of the few people in this community who's opinion I value over the rest. Mainly because you have a great deal experience and knowledge gained over the years.

I don't see grunge as "easy". I tend to agree that the use of this style depends totally on the attitude of the site itself.

i dont think that the artsy grungy people shouldnt be consider trendy.

think about it- what are the odds that those people would dress like that if they had been in an isolated room their entire lives..they get into art, and then all of their friends who are also into art dress like that so they do it too. i would consider that a trend, wether it be a big one or not. My point is that no matter what you do, if you are getting the idea from somebody else, then you are the same as a person who follows a 'trend'. the only difference is that trends are followed by many more people, but none the less, every one of them are doing the same thing as the 'grungy art kids' are, but theres just more of them because its a socially accepted trend, and not one that is trying to be so different that they lose sight of why they are doing it, which they pretend is to be original and 'express themselves'. i think its a huge crock, personally
