Pop quiz... why did God give you two ears and only one mouth? So you'd listen twice as much as you talk.

You will find in ANY online community, that there is a surface culture, and a subculture. The guys are right when they say, slow down... read more than you write.... learn. You need to take some time learning what the 'norms' (anyone remember their sociology classes?) of the community are before you run off both guns blazing. If you stay or if you go, I hope you will learn to relax and absorb the surroundings before trying to change the world. I've learned you'll basically NEVER change anyones mind in an online forum if it's about a topic that really matters--and even less chance of changing their mind if the topic doesn't matter.

Okay, our time today is up, please schedule an appointment with my secretary on your way out for next week. Oh, and sign up for my wife's mailing list in my sig... I'll be your friend then. :: spam alert:: :: spam alert:: :: spam alert::

I agree with everyone. You shouldnt leave.... its really good to get new people in the forum and really bad to chase them away.

I have to admit, when you first came here, something about you didnt go with me... maybe it was your kindof our of the blue and pointless posts/threads, but you really did nothing wrong.... and Im sorry that I kindof got the wrong impression of you and labeled you the way that I did. It probably wasnt the best thing to do or the right thing for that matter.

I really would like to see you stick around, but take the advice the others gave you, it will really make things go smoother. I dont know what else to say. :P

I apologize for being a jerk to you, since i seem to be one of the headliners and we typically start butting heads in threads.

At any rate, don't leave, we need a stronger base as it is. Like Bjorn said, the "core" of this forum is great (generally those who registered before 2003, it seems), but we need more people to really stick around. We all took the heat for our crappy work, but we come out a lot better for it. Too many people join these forums, post afew crappy images, and then leave because we didn't tell them how cool their work was.

Nos.

I will stay, post less often and try and take all of your advice... But is the misc section a really misc section? Because if not I think the description should be changed.
I really do like this website though, I just think I made a bad first impression, so if you could try to forget the bias and let me start anew I would be thankful, and you can delete this post too.
Thank you.

Foghorn...

IF You can clearly write out the directions for making the PERFECT grilled cheese sandwich, AND  tell me the airspeed of an unladen sparrow I'll consider recommending you for knighthood. If you can't, all bets are off. But I know a place that will have you, no questions asked.

(BTW: Understand that the grilled cheese sandwich question is almost  a trick. I'M the only one I know who is able to make one to my perfect satisfaction. Then, to be able to put it into a clear detailing of an unequivacable set of directions would prove to be a Herculean task for anyone. Accept the challenge at your own peril.)

Really your only mistake was posting like a madman the minute you joined, fog. Many of us post much more pointless threads than you have, but when you've been here for a few months/years and get to know the way things go and people get to know you, it is a lot more acceptable than a new guy that just joined, and is posting dozens of threads about non-photoshop things. When I first joined I did much more reading than writing, but eventually worked my way into, so that I wasn't seen as an annoying spammer when I first joined. At least I don't think I was... And if anyone thinks I was, I'll ban your asses! ;)

Congrats Atomicbog! U23 gave you a nickname... mind you it doesn't mean he likes you... he doesn't like anyone! And correction, U23--I am the one who has attained grilled cheese enlightenment!
