You are a complete fool. The top 5% of America pays for 75% of our taxes. They are taxed 15% MORE than the middle class. Come on, kiddo - at least take a look at the American tax bracket rates before you go off and embarrass yourself like this. Nos.
Hahahahahaha!!!! Who's the top 5%? 61% of U.S. firms paid no tax on profits. President Bush's budget forecasts corporations will pay $168.7 billion in income taxes in 2004 compared with $765.4 billion paid by individuals. Link |

Look at the "rich" vs the "poor", do you consider almost 40% taxation benefit? Let's say i make $100, and you make $10 - i am taxed 30% and you are taxed 20%. Who is keeping more money? Yes, the "rich", but who is PAYING more money? Bingo - the rich. What's so hard to understand about this? Democratic politicians are constantly pushing the cliché that "Bush is for the rich", which is nothing more than propaganda for dinner-time discussion. THE "RICH" MAKE MORE - SO PROPORTIONALLY THEY WILL KEEP MORE. Nos. |
So the top 5% are paying more taxes, but their buisnesses aren't taxed on their profits? I don't get it. :(
Oh, of course there are businesses - but you are forgetting that a personal income and a business are completely different entities. A business owner keeps the funds for his business and his personal income seperate at all times (otherwise the IRS will pwn you), and must be taxed in both cases. Also, you are assuming that EVERYONE in the top 5% owns a business, which is completely false. Think about all of the athletes, actors, executives. Is this making sense? If you're going to say that our tax system isn't fair (as many Europeans often claim on these forums), say that it is unfair to those making above $300,000 a year. They worked hard, played the game of capitalism, and invested tons of time and effort to get where they are, and they are paying almost double what the middle class accountant is paying in taxes. Also - what would be the governments motivation for giving only the "rich" tax cuts? Isn't that kind of like shooting your own foot? The government is trying to make money, not lose it - the more they tax the people with money, the more they make. It is the wealthy who are overtaxed in this nation. Look at the figures - go ahead, try and prove me wrong. Nos. |

This is just amusing to read. I thought this thread was about downloading music and apparently it has become about taxes. I personally think socialized medical is a great idea. Yeah then the evel government would be breathing down your neck for more taxes you dont have but hey I would be able to go to the doctor, instead of worrying if my health insurance will cover the session. I think that tax spending is messed up anyway, what was that crazy idea I heard being passed around, something about Bush revitalizing the "Star Wars" program. He has been out to finish what his daddy couldn't since he got into office. (and I know it was Regan not Bush who was the major player in the Star Wars project, but Bush was his vice president, and he tried very hard to keep Regan's ideals going, eg. "Reganomics") The RIAA and the MPAA are the mafia of the entertainment industry, DO IT OUR WAY OR WE'LL SUE YOU. It is disturbung that a couple kids who want to play DVDs on their Linux machine can get sued for cracking the code that makes DVD work. Ok so it also lets you and me extract the same information for Nefarious purposes, but I don't know about you, but I don't have a DVD burner that can burn 9GB disks, so copying is kinda' a moot point. Sorry, I'll shut up now. (By the way, I am registered Republican, and I think Bush is the biggest idiot to step foot in the white house in the last two decades {Stolen election}) sorry. |

Paavo, I expect that I will not be an idiot and will invest my money wisely. I don't expect a handout from the government, I don't think I deserve one, I don't think anybody deserves one. I think if you didn't invest your money smart enough you should suffer the penalties rather than expect every single citizen in the country to chip in and pay your bills for you.

Greedy to want to keep what you have earned? If that's the definition of greed, then yes. Nos. |

Mattboy: You can always get sick. You can't honestly think all poor people are lazy or stupid? Nostalgia: They're not after all of your precious dollars, just a percentage -- that also works as a safetynet for you if your plans go wrong. Good god, we really do come from totally different worlds. I'm more than happy paying my share of taxes. My share of taxes are now helping my father with leukemia and soon to be operated for his heart. Do you know how much money that'd cost if we weren't living in a "OMG SOCIALIST EVEL COUNTRE!!!11 IM NOT HELPING ANYONE ME ME ME NEW CARS". My father's a (emeritus now) professor in the university of Helsinki, and has been making decent money for many years. Without our social system, he couldn't afford the aid he's about to get. He'd have to take a loan. How the hell does a retired man pay off a huge loan? Upcoming reply: "Yeah, but without your commie ways, your dad'd be much richer and could afford seven heart surgeries!" - Perhaps true, in HIS case. The way you're thinking, everyone should be rich. Everyone should "invest smart" and save money for the future. Well, who're going to be the ones building the roads, the nurses, the firemen, garbage-dudes, the waiters....the lower income-people. Nothing works without them in the mix too. You're saying, that falling into poverty / getting sick without affording it -- is the person's own fault. To me, you sound like elitist yuppies, rich-kid hypocrites that "have a plan" when all you really are, is greedy and ignorant of how the real world works. I'm not a raging communist by any means, I just strongly believe in a solid social system. What's wrong with a safetynet equal for all? As for schools, our "COMMIE OMG SOCIALISTZ" - system provides free education. You think that's a bad idea too? *smoke coming out of ears* Moving on... :D |
