If the Republicans had their way they'd do away with almost all taxes completely, and dump all worthless social programs (which is just about every single one).
Canada's healthcare is borderline SOCIALISM. You, who may be in perfect health, are still paying for the sickly old man that requires 8 prescription drugs every day. YOU'RE paying for it.

Nos.
AND they are covered even if their parents don't pay for their health insurance AND they are not being raped by pharmaceutical companies who inflate their prices beyond peoples income AND granted it's not a perfect system but they have 100% health coverage, which leaves a lot of explaining for the 40+ Million people in the US with no coverage at all in a country with some of the best medical facilities in the world.

I get the impression that all Republicans ever worry about is not paying any taxes. I realise there is point when taxes get outrageous, but the US is not that bad. How else do you think roads get built? What about cleaning up oil spills by companies that dodge any responisbility, how about 911 and all those public officials that risked their lives? How about next time you go to the park and enjoy a nice clean lawn and a lake that is not infested with some skin rashing algae? Hmmm I don't, maybe TAXES paid for it?

Sure there are some freeloaders to the system, but why not put some numbers next to their percentage versus what citizens pay in taxes. Probably more is paid to your parents in Social Security than what is paid to the freeloaders. How about we make the elders just fend for themselves? That would sure cut a lot TAXES....

Maybe the US should just open the floodgates and let all the felons back out on the street. That sure would reduce A LOT of TAXES....

*note sarcasm* =)

Boy Tax Cuts Help Don't They!!

"The Bush Administration called the tax cut package, which was passed in May 2003 and took effect in July 2003, its "Jobs and Growth Plan." The president's economics staff, the Council of Economic Advisers (see background documents), projected that the plan would result in the creation of 5.5 million jobs by the end of 2004—306,000 new jobs each month, starting in July 2003. After eight months of falling considerably short of that projection, job gains for the month of March finally hit that level. For the nine months as a whole, however, the administration projected that a total of 2,754,000 jobs would be created after the tax cuts took effect. In fact, only 689,000 jobs were created over that period for a cumulative shortfall of 2,065,000 jobs. "

The wrong people are paying the most taxes. That's the problem.

The fundamental principle of any economic rightist is minimal government interference. Private health insurance companies give people JOBS, it encourages BUSINESS GROWTH, and it saves the overall population money in taxes.

I know what taxes are for, although i applaud your effort for the explanation, and as an economic rightist my basic stance is to lower taxes, and lower spending. Privatize schools, healthcare, etc.

Yeah, and we all know Canada makes some great products, huh? We all know that Canada has the #1 economy in the world, right? You're right! The US should just emulate Canada - we'd become so prosperous!

Raise your hand if a record company/artist has allowed you to share their music.

*raises hand
*

Not all record companies are total greedy bastards who raid your home looking for "their" property. Some even support good causes. And "GO CANADA !" on upholding your privacy laws unlike some other countries that just make up new laws (let's call them "patriotic laws" or something like that just so it sounds nicer) that take them away from you "in case of an emergency".

And on the political discussion going on in this thread I have but this to write. A part of me wants Bush to "be declared" president again just so we can have something to laugh and redecule about over here in "old Europe". Go knock yourselves out. We'll be sitting on this here side of the ocean laughing and feeling pitty for you.
Allow a puppet to rule you once....hey, you got fooled. Allow a puppet to rule you twice.....then you're the fool who patriotically chooses to walk with eyes closed yearning oblivion and ignorance over truth and justice.

Give your upper 5% (the group of people who already pay the lowest tax rates in the industrialized world) another tax cut and keep on dreaming that dream that one day you shall also be a part of that 5%. Sweet dreams.

You are a complete fool.

The top 5% of America pays for 75% of our taxes. They are taxed 15% MORE than the middle class. Come on, kiddo - at least take a look at the American tax bracket rates before you go off and embarrass yourself like this.
