There's an old thread back a couple of months ago that asks about people's favorite bands. Maybe you should check that out as well. But anyway..... I enjoy rock music. Like Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Cake, Foo Fighters, 311, etc etc. And some punk like Blink182, Good Charlotte, etc. And also techno/trance stuff. When I'm designing I pretty much always listen to techno/trance or Radiohead. They are very soothing, and they don't demand your attention. I can't stand listening to rock or punk when I'm trying to think. It's too distracting. |

Punk : AFI ( yeah it's mall rock, but they are good ), The Dead MilkMen, Iggy Pop. I don't consider Blink182 or any of what MTV deems punk to be actual punk, go figure. Rock : Train, 311, Live, Tragically Hip, Son Volt, Billy Pilgrim, Blue Mountain, Cowboy Mouth, Southern Culture on the Skids, 7 Mary 3, Drivin' and Cryin', Jump Little Children, Jasmine Attic and other local bands. Heavy : Staind, Disturbed, Motor Head, Sepultura, Black Sabbath and Ozzy. Classic Rock : Anything. I like all of it. Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, Pink Floyd ( before Roger Waters left ), Foreiner ( yes ). Classical : Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Wagner. Country : *shudder* When I have to, it's usually Mary Chapin Carpenter. She's not really country, but they play her on country stations. |

My favorite types of music: Alternative Blues Classic Rock Country Dance Drum & Bass Electronic Hard/Modern Rock Hip Hop Industrial Metal Porn-Funk Punk R&B Rap Reggae Ska Techno In other words, I own just about every possible genre of music that has a beat. My top favorite artists are: Garth Brooks Fatboy Slim Marilyn Manson Green Day Van Morrison 2Pac Guns n' Roses Nothing in common. If the music has a good beat to it, I'll listen to it. And NO, pop is NOT music, it does not have a good beat, it does NOT have good lyrics, and 90% of the artists do not write 90% of their music. ********** And Danforth, he likes those different kinds of music because he is OPEN-MINDED. Open your ears AND your mind. Do NOT listen to a certain type of music because MTV or your close friends tell you to. Listen to it because it gets inside you. Listen to it because it creates emotion. Whether that emotion be sadness, happiness, anger, whatever. A truly good song will give you goosebumps and you will NEVER get sick of it. |

I live near the beaches on the east coast, so I like shag/beach music. 'Shag' is the state dance of South Carolina, not the other meaning made popular by that movie. I don't like rap mainly because I don't consider someone talking really fast about money, bitches and hoes and the cars they have is entertaining. But you are entitled to your opinion. There used to be some rap that I liked ie Public Enemy, Run DMC, Beastie Boys. The new type of rap, that started with 'gangsta rap' just makes me laugh. |
