Linkin Park, Grey Daze (not new), Audioslave, Deftones (not new either x)), Stereophonics, Mudvayne, ehm.. hoobastank, mew and puddle of mudd .. and a bunch of other stuff, theres really nothing special i listen to a lot anymore .. still a big fan of Linkin park though *gets beaten by other members* and i guess Metallica, Goo Goo Dolls, Evanescence etc. still gets played once in a while |

only three people had anything of value to say: telemakhos, moochan, and spectra. (Except for Jane's Addiction. WTF?) But if you want to know the best mother****ing band today, then there is no question. Red Hot Chili Peppers. And don't even try to argue this, because they are the hardest-rocking, funkiest, flea-style bass-poppin music with the most soul, skill, and technique. Anthony Kiedas has the most in your face lyrics ever, and you KNOW john frusciante did some crazy drugs to get his voice that high. And I saw them live, and the best way to describe their performance is "4 Ninjas with instruments." They had such an amazing show. unfortunately the really bands nowadays are the ones that have been around for a long time. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been out for 20 years or something like that now. I also love Incubus, but they too have been around forever. And I think their older funkier stuff is better, but their new stuff is still awesome. Audioslave is amazing, but of course even though they're technically a new band, they are comprised of Chris Cornell who was in Soundgarden for years before Audioslave, and the instrumentalists of Rage Against The Machine who ALSO were around for years before Audioslave (and RATM was god damn incredible.) I can't understand though why anyone would get tired of the old stuff? Tele was right, the old stuff is awesome, hendrix and marley are 2 of my gods. Led Zeppelin too? :D And pganguly is right, RATM never get old. Oh, and James Brown, Godfather of Soul... he makes me wish I was black so badly. oh and I don't know if you like hip hop, but even people who dont like hip hop dig Outkast. I figured I'd mention this since i'm listening to them right now, but man do those guys own! heyyyyyyyyyy yaaaaaaaaaaa (shake it, shake it, shake it like a polaroid pictchah!) and if you didn't know, the Andre 3000 side of the new CD is amazing. It's bringing back jazz, or something... I have such new respect for this man, after hearing the jazzynesso fthese tracks... |

RATM never gets old .. neither does Red hot chillie peppers or incubus, no .. but i wouldnt call them the best band, not anymore.. RHCP's older stuff is not only better than the new, its WAY better.. And yes, Audioslave is "just" a bunch of great bands thrown into one, still makes them cool though ;) and btw, we all have something of value to say, even though it might not be in your taste.. |

One of the main reasons I stopped listening to the radio is the influx of new bands that does not suit my tastes or really good bands that started to suck (i.e. RHCP).

All we need now is a Starbucks on Mars and I'd live comfortably on it, ignoring the insanely low temperatures and thin atmosphere and whatnot.

God damn. RHCP never started to suck. Their peak was of course BSSM but they're still an awesome band. And if you think they're not the best, then who is better? Talentwise, energywise, there are still very few who can compare. and i never said audioslave was "just" a bunch of great bands together... They still own. I'd never refer to them as "just" a band. talentwise and energywise they are one of the few who are like neck and neck wtih RHCP. and the reason i said the whole tasteless thing is because too many people are into these carbon copy punk bands... AFI and blink 182 and all those other crap bands that got famous a month after picking up the guitar. I'm god damn sick of it. which is partly the reason why I love this new outkast album - it's bringing jazz back! And for you guys who might not know, Jazz is probably the most difficult of genres to play. |

I more or less started this thread because I wanted something different to listen to. I never said I didn't like the old stuff. Supah you may not like me anymore after this, but I hate Red Hot Chili Peppers...sorry. *runs and hides behind mihai from supah* On the other hand I am a huge fan of Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Gary Moore (cause he rocks the guitar), Scorpians, Boston, Reo Speedwagon, The Outfield....I could go on for days. Not to mention OZZY. Heck I used to listen to Iron Maiden when I was 12. :P I have all kinds of music in my CD collection, including lots of R&B and Hip Hop. I always love to hear new stuff though, and since I am in Europe I know there is stuff that we listen to over here that never makes it to the US. And vice versa...so it is nice to here about new bands/music that I have not heard. Mara |

The Red Hot Chili Peppers suck donkey balls. I just thought I let that little bit of wisdom go out to all. |

In the last 2 years, I believe that indy rock has become a genre. |
