Anyone listening to some fresh new music lately? I am gettin bored with stuff at the moment.

I don't have any particular band I love or anything, if they make a song I like I'll listen to it. Well, there are certain ppl/groups I like a lot.

I just put my iPod on shuffle all the time, so I never really listen to one song or one album anymore...

I really like the new blink 182 album though. And some of the new POD... and Brand New... and Yellowcard... and Jimmy Eat World...

Hayley Westenra - one of the purest voiced since Karen Carpenter

Katie Melua - a slightly dreamy, vaguely erotic voice that hits the spot

Other than that I normally have a mixture of jazz, 60's and popular chart hits through the 50's - 90's.

Although against all that I hold dear, I am loving Jamelia's superstar and BEP's shutup. ;)

hmm either they aren't very big in Europe yet or I am way behind the times cause I have not heard of them.

Evanescence released some songs I like, I am a big Fan of 80's rock, but love a lot of the newer rock... Linkin Park, Creed, Metallica etc...

I visited some of the sites of the bands you suggested. I have not heard that stuff before...cool new stuff to listen to. Thanx fellas :D

Hayley Westenra's voice reminds me a lot of Enya. Anyone listen to Enya? Very soothing.

Brand New isn't bad. I ripped that album from a friend of mine. Their radio release is probably the worst track on the album though. I like I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't. I dunno, but Yellowcard doesn't quite do it for me. I mean, I don't think they suck, but...eh. Not My cup of Tea.

If Evanescence is your thing and you like 80's rock, it might be time to get back to the roots of goth music. Every once in a while, I'll go off on a tangent and won't listen to anything that's younger than like 10 years old. Some New Order, Dead Can Dance, The Cure, etc, etc, (Too many come to mind to list). haven't found too many new bands that personify the classic goth sound. I'm not by any means goth, but some of the music of the era was undeniably great.

Some of my favorite recent bands are (In no particular order)

  • Postal Service, Give Up
  • Death Cab For Cutie, Transatlanticism
(*Note, I only listen to emo in small doses, and if you're gonna listen to emo, it may as well be some of the good stuff)
  • The Doves, The Last Broadcast
  • Sigur Ros, ( )
(The new album is probably nearest to goth instrumental, without the synth percussion, and overall whineyness)
  • Chemical Brothers, Come With Us and Singles '93-03 (Anthology Boxed set)
  • Overseer, Wreckage
  • Crystal Method, Legion Of Boom
  • UNKLE, Never Never Land
  • Radiohead, Hail To The Thief
  • Solomon Burke, Don't Give Up On Me
  • The Flaming Lips, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
And some older stuff
  • Bjork
  • James Brown
  • Hooverphonic
  • Moby (18 is kind of recent)
  • And the list goes on, and on, and on, and on
All of the above, except, I think Hooverphonic and the Chemical Brothers have a new album out. Hooverphonic's last was like, 2-3 years ago, and Chemical Brother's was about 2 years ago. They did, however put out an anthology, with a few unreleased tracks, as well as some live tracks and remixes. The new Crystal Method album Legion Of Boom, is like crack. Seriously, their song Born Too Slow is CRAZY. The Doves last album, The Last Broadcast came out at about the same time as the Chemical Brother's last. Both are damn fine. The Doves have a far more mature sound than a lot of other acts out there. They're definitely worth a try.

So, there's my 2 cents.
