In my opinion they have created the wrek of their own ship...

The idea of buying music online as on for many years (1996 if im not wrong) this may suprise you since it as been a reality just recently...

But here the fact, back then the idea of online music was submistted to them but they refused (they wanted to force people to buy the whole album and not just a song) beliving than online music would lower their profits...

The results... Napster ans kazzha simply took their place... If the RIAAA would have accepted to seel onlin music then piracy would not have been so important...

They are alos responsable for music piracy in my mind...

By the way imnot a pirate...

Who cares if they've indirectly made this mess for themselves? Does that change the fact that it is ILLEGAL to duplicate files?

Power to the people. Fight the system.

Most musicians who's copyrights are infringed and enforced don't need the money they lose. To me, when people copy music from whiney bands like Metallica it strikes me as a bit of Robin Hood. They make so much money in the first place and do very little for the good of the world so stealing from them doesn't hurt my concious. Why should I care if Metallica can't afford another mansion?

If they were real artists and not half-wits who can play power chords they would not care about the money. To be an artist you have to care about the art. Fight the system. The RIAA is not doing this for the artists, they're doing if for the rich record label execs who want another lexus. Screw them. It may be illegal in contemporary society, but in the grand scheme it doesn't matter. Power to the people.

Robin Hood, Pancho Villa, music pirates, they're all the same in my book.

I'm no angel, but taking from an artist is wrong. I feel template monster and kinkos are wrong. They undercut design, but people do get what they pay for... Its just bs to have to explain to people why they should pay out a few grand for a identity when they feel they could get the same from kinkos for 30 bucks.. just ignore this if it does not make sence. I'm in a pissy mood.

I don't mind buying cd's in fact I bought the new foo fighters cd today, but I don't think its right to charge 17.99 or whatever just so everyone in the music industry can make like 100k + a year.

Ugh, this is pathetic. You'd think children of such an age as you would have learned better, or at least more logical, debate tactics.

It doesn't matter if you don't think they deserve the money, it is rightfully theirs. What's so hard to understand, here? You are comparing yourself to Robin Hood - do you really think your cause is so honorable? So selfless? No, you're just a whiny kid.

Exactly - the CEO of Microsoft isn't concered as to how his profitable business is going to help one of the hundreds of OS programmers in the lower-ranks. He's concerned about - primarily - how it will affect the business and its integrity, and then secondly how it will affect himself.

EDIT: and for the record, I don't even have a file sharing program, I buy all my CDs legally on ebay because I would rather have a hard copy for my CD player, but I support opposition to the RIAA.

I don't think I am honorable, but I disagree with how the system works, so I circumvent the system.

You could say the same thing about one country invading another country. Once, for example, the United States has taken over Texas, does that mean it's rightfully theirs? Does the fact that the early settlers traded beads for huge tracks of land with the indians make it right? They made a deal, but they were screwing them and they knew it. I don't honor deception.

This is a great source for info about the RIAA.

Truth
Spin

I agree to an extent that music should be bought, but I’m not against downloader’s either. Back in the early Napster days I discovered a lot of new music that I wouldn’t have found if it weren’t for the freedom to download what I want when I wanted to. I like to experience the cd before I buy it. Ever since I stopped downloading I haven’t bought as many cd’s. I mainly get cd’s of artists who I know turn out quality albums. So I’m a little more hesitant to buy anything new.

What the RIAA is doing is just plain wrong. Please check out the links if you have time.
