This is WWII Japanese internment camps all over again. The US is holding them without placing any charges on them simply because they do not want them to have contact with terrorists. IF THEY DID SOMETHING WRONG CHARGE THEM AND GIVE THEM A TRIAL!! motherf***ing whores I tell you.

Enter Patriot Act, stage left. Made after 9/11, approved by YOUR representatives. Your vote doesn't count eh? Guess who's in office. If you want to make a difference, vote, petition, rally. Restricted freedom of speech is guaranteed in our republican democracy, make use of it.

I do agree with you on one point.

This Jessica Lynch ... now she is some f***ing hero, why?

Good question. The real heroes are the soldiers who rescued her. But I don't like your piss poor view on it. If you were captured in Iraq - I know you'd never even think of enlisting, but bear with me - and you were captured by enemy soldiers, would you want the U.S. to dismiss you as another casualty? As somebody who "failed to do their job"? Or would you want the country you risked your life for to do the same for you? The media hyped her story to the point of fabrication, and she's trying to get the truth told.

She was treated with great respect and taken to a hospital immediately.

But point taken. It's completely valid.

EDIT: I probably should not have posted this because I tend to state extremist and stupid opinions during my rant periods. But oh well.

I'm glad you did post, bucause it actually opened up discussion other than the Mac/PC argument. It's a nice break from our virtual reality that is TPS.

I like this guy. Able to criticize without taking a grudge over to another point.

true, I'm glad we're bickering over something new. How refreshing!

In response to Fig's post, I still think the media is waaaay to the right. Look at the top of each media outlet and you'll clearly see that none of them is liberal. Read the top headlines on well, any day, really.

For example...FOX, CNN, New York Times, AOL Time Warner, Disney, - even British media, I've heard, is owned and operated by Republican campaign financeers, (if I'm not mistaken)... I'm reading a book in which studies were conducted by Harvard students which depicted a huge swing in positive / negative stories during the last presidential campaign - I don't know the numbers, but it was significanly slanted negatively towards democrats and Gore.

I'm not really pro-Gore, either - I would love to bitch slap his Nazi wife, for example... but Bush has a huge laundry list that no one in the media seems to care about. Why not?! He's admitted to doing coke, been busted for driving drunk, took credit for military actions he didn't have anything to do with, and I'm not even going to start on the financial laundry list!!!

Remember when the biggest problem the US had was whether or not Clinton got some action?!?!

Telemakhos you got a good rant there, I'm sure it felt good to release some of the crap you're dealing with. It's always good to have a passion for things to straighten up, and wisdom is key when looking to do what needs to be done.

But the issue seems to be skin color, for years. Where do you all think that concept came from? I know, I know, history and its twists and turns, but let me put it this way.

What will it take to shatter those concepts? A new generation?

Just wondering....cheers.

*enjoys the smell of a new discussion*

anyway.. i just want to add a little about the race things.. Here in denmark we hear that talk about white people beeing racists as well.. But sometimes people forget that white people is as much a victim of rasicm as black people, mexican people and whoever..

In denmark, for example, we dont only have white gangs, and white people with knifes/weapons in general.. its actually more the other way around.. and it doesnt take more than a little stare at the wrong person before you get you *ss kicked by 20 people on the street, especially if youre out drinking in the weekends..

and no, its not black people in Denmark, mostly not.. and yes, white people have gangs as well of course.. but as so many other countries we get a lot of 'war victims' here.. and unfortunetly not everyone can adjust here..

let me give an example.. there was this documentry in TV once, about the trouble in a school. Anyway, one of the boys is pissed on the danish people becaus .. well, he "just" is.. Apperently its okay for him to tell a dane "your mom is a f*cking wh0re", but if a dane told him the same thing he would get beaten up in no time..

Why? because 'he was raised with "another" form of respect for his mother/family, and things are different in their culture'..

Im sorry, maybe this isnt relevant to this discussion, i just wanted to point out (again) that rasicm works more than one way..

But dont get me wrong.. things aren't "okay", and yes.. racism is a major problem.. Just letting you see it from my view as well, when it comes to this..

couldn't disagree more gg. fox news is the only one i'll say might have a slight lean to the right (which i think is actually more a neutral position that looks conservative compared to other media), other than that cnn, msnbc, etc. are all way off to the liberal side. christianity, bush, and conservative values are consistenly bashed and the values of homosexuality and the democratic party are extolled on a daily basis. i can't remember the last thing i saw reported positively about bush or the republicans, can you?
