Depends on what software you're using, Fig. 3D Studio Max won't run on a Mac, otherwise I'd say get a Powerbook, dude. (My boss has a 15" G4 Powerbook, and it's speed is close to my 1.6 G5, no joke). If you need to do a ton of 3D work, you'll probably want a PC - I'd go with a high end Dell with a ton of RAM, personally.

Well considering the Mac's limited 3D program library, you might want to go PC on that one... For everything else I'd go with a 12 or 15" powerbook though.

Same question here, I'm almost certain I'll be getting a Mac laptop within 2 years, I just gotta wait till they drop in price. Mainly I don't want to have to babysit the OS, making sure I update security and deal with the constant type of crap I get from Windows.

How much farther do you expect them to drop in price? The iBooks are rock bottom right now. I haven't seen many decent PC laptops for that price. If you are waiting 2 years though, they'll have G5 laptops by that time. And who knows what else. |

No kidding, deker, However - there's always the lucky bastards that get the store's last demo model (my girlfriend, in this case): iBook G3 700 with RAM - $799. She ended up getting the service plan with it, and paying for them to install the RAM, so it came out closer to $950 - but for an extra $100 - that G4 sure looks sweet. *side note* why do I sense this thread going into another goddamn platform war?? |
