I would switch to a Mac (laptop), but right now I am running windows on my desktop and I am also a bit of a gamer, but not much anymore. My main concern is having to buy PS and Dreamweaver all over again, just because I want to have them installed on my Mac laptop when I have a PC desktop. Having to buy 2 times the apps is not very attractive. Sorry, I am rambling a bit. |

if you have all the original stuff for PS and its an older version (6) I read somewhere that adobe CAN not that they will but if you give it to them in good shape they can exchange it for the mac version.

Yeah, but I wish I could use 1 CD for both Windows and Mac. The fact that all my apps are PC is the only thing keeping me tethered to my PC.

No, using the Mac won't automatically make you a better designer, and I don't think anyone has said that or even implied that. It can make you a more productive designer though. And yeah, the buying software twice thing sucks, though you can probably upgrade from PC version to Mac version at the upgrade price. Don't know for sure. I've never seen a PC laptop even compare to a Mac. The new 17" PC Laptops from HP are terrible. I saw some at Best Buy and literally laughed. They are like 2 1/2" thick, ugly, and just plain huge. Some of Sony's laptops are pretty slick, but most are not as fully featured as the Macs of the same size. My boss has a VPR Matrix laptop, which was designed by Porsche, though it is just a blatant copy of the old Titanium Powerbook. And it still isn't sexy or sleek in any way. It's the details of the Apple machine that makes them great, and no PC manufacturer has ever caught on to that or duplicated it, in my opinion. And besides, even if someone did finally make a comparable PC, it would still run Windows... MacOSX is quite stable, since it now runs on UNIX. You can force quit applications that hang and continue computing without slowdown or anything. But of course Windows XP has been pretty stable for me too. It's slow, but it has only really crashed a couple of times. I think stability isn't really any issue in most operating systems anymore. Thank goodness! |
