I've been meaning to ask you guys this for a long time now... I have Opera 7 installed - I couldn't be more pleased with the features and stuff but from time to time it keeps crashing on me - bad. I noticed this happens more often when I also have IE open. It is also not set as the default browser if that has any relevance. I thought it might be my overworked system but recently I reinstalled XP and I downloaded a fresh version from opera.com - the one with java - installed that one - The same keeps happening. What could be the cause of this? I am really pleased with it- it loads pages fast and has a lot of pretty features and I'd hate to let it go but it's really annoying to have it crash on me in the middle of a presentation or something. any help would be appreciated |

Does it crash on any particular site, or just randomly? Is it reproducable at all? Or just happen ever now and then for no reason? Why are you running IE while running Opera? You know IE sucks, right? ;)

In other opera news, they just released the 7.2 beta. No major changes or feature enhancements, other than they implemented the < blink> and < marquee> tags for no apparent reason. I don't know what the hell they are thinking. That's just taking about 3 steps backwards...

it crashes randomly... - I thought first that perhaps it had something to do with java or flash - but I see gigantic, processor eating flash movies without problems and then it crashes on the yahoo index page.... I don't think it crashed twice on the same page....It just happens for no apparent reason. I know IE sucks but I sometimes show my clients how their site will appear on IE and Opera ... - so both browsers are open. Other times I just forget to close IE - and I have to use it to make sure a page looks good on it..... |

I don't know man. It crashes on me sometimes too, but normally because of a badly coded page. Try downloading the new beta and see if that fixes it.

On the subject of speed, IE starts up and loads pages faster than Opera 7 on my computer, maybe around 0.5 to 1 second faster.
