Liquid, the only reason Health Care costs so much is because of the programs we have now. Medicare and Medicaid are always fighting with the hospital over how much who's bill is, and the hospital has to recoup that money lost in secretarial wages due by raising their rates. I know, it's ridiculous. I went to the doctor last year, was there 10 minutes, all the doctor did was tell me that I was having a spring-time allery (no **** I wanted to tell him) and he gave me a prescription for some allergy medicine that didn't work anyways. Cost me $70. $70 for 10 minutes with a doctor. I'm sure they charge a 1-hour minimum, so the more people they can push through there per hour the more their take.

HAHA @ Paav...you're exactly right. Nobody gives a rats ass about what people stand for anymore. I even know a few people (Im dead honest about this) who vote according to the "coolness" of the politicians name! HAHA, yea, I knew a few people who were so Pro-Nader because they thought Ralph Nader was a cool-sounding name. Unreal...

I got your six, Mattboy... About health care: America is not, and Lord willing, never will be a socialist county. Of course we don't have a FREE health care system. Who would want one? All we have to do is look at our neighbors, Canada, with their socialized medicine--NO THANKS! They have to wait 12-18 months sometimes for necessary surgery... that's why they're coming across the border all the time in Michigan to come see American doctors. BECAUSE their system SUCKS. About Iraq and world politics: Granted, we sometimes make our own messes in this world, but we seem to be about the only ones willing to go and and clean up our messes--and other schmuck countries messes for that matter. 9-11 will NOT be spared a repeat by sitting around with our thumbs up our arses. Decisive action is the only course that even worth considering. If you were so gullible as to expect that the political posturing before the war was supposed to mean something other than to placate the inane automatons of the world, then get used to disappointment. Terrorism MUST be stopped at it's roots. While we may not have stopped it, we set one of it's biggest supporters way, WAY back. About 'cool' politicians: The fools I know who voted for a cool president were the ones who put the morooooon Clinton in office. Were did THAT get us? I believe one of his greatest achievements was selling communication technology to the Syrians which greatly hindered our ability to identify the 9-11 threat before it happened. Dub-ya may not be 'cool', but I will definately vote for him again. Oh, I forgot to post my quote: |

I'm not sure where the debate about Candian medicine and US medicine came in, but I want to add my 2 cents here. Being that I am from the US, but now reside in Canada, the health care system here does not suck. They have plenty of private health care providers on top of the "socialist" ones. If you land a job where they offer private health care you take it. If you dont, then you use the public ones. That being said, not a single person in Canada goes without health care. Now that alone is a great feat. The US, being one of the greatest nations in the world, has also one of the highest percentage of people who cant afford to go see a doctor. Now that is messed up. I didnt have health insurance for about 10 years because I didnt want to fork up the $400 dollars a month for some plan I would use once every other year. Granted in certain places there is a wait for emergency health care, but that last time I visited a public walk in clinic in the states it wasnt a blessed trip down memory lane either. I know we dont base all of our opinions on fact here, but maybe if the US wasnt spending trillions on trying to be the 'most powerful' country in the world some of the domestic issues that are slowly inching to the forefront could be dealt with. I think Bush was elected because of his father's name and respect. Geez, I'd rather see his dad in office again than him (and I hated him as well.) I think he is too conservative for the good of the country, and he's an IDIOT.... It's easy to point out the mistakes of each president and try to nail them to the cross with that. Clinton - didn't inhale.... Bush - snorted coke. It's already coming out that the basis of which he used to start the Iraq conflict was false, and now we've got a big mess on our hands. And Bush has the balls to cry to the UN for rebuilding Iraq, when he deliberately went against their ruling and started the war anyways. Bull***t I say. Let the US and Britain pay for the whole thing. |

Just a note: I was working at the hospital today, and there was a wall plaque stating, and this is not verbatim, so bear with me, that "no one shall be denied a reasonable amount of health care. No cost and low cost health care will be provided to all in need who enter this facility" And there was a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services logo at the bottom. EDIT: A government web page about no-cost and low-cost healthcare: http://www.ahrq.gov/research/jan98/ra1.htm |

I think there's a reason people in Iraq think of him as a God. I would like to see you guys trying to do what he's doing and how "easy" it is be a President of the US. |

You should really look at the news more. People in Iraq don't think of Bush as a god. And people saying the war is over, it's not. Soldiers still die... Lots of protesting in Iraq too. But please stay on topic. |

I don't think anyone in Iraq thinks of him as a god, but there are people who are thanking him for what he did...but on the same level, there are just as many if not more people there who are not happy that we are in their country.

Politics suck. That's all I have to say about that. Politicians must have big corporate sponsors and/or backing from strong lobbies to get elected. Once they are in power they are obligated to return the "favor" by voting for bills in their favor. All politics is for lobbies and corporations, is a big horse race. Put all the money in the one you want to win. My dad is a scientist for the US Government, and when he is invited to go speak in different countries he cannot be paid for by corporate sponsors of the talks/meeting even though he is not advertising, he is a world famous scientist who talks to other scientists about science. He cannot earn money from his talks either. So he has to go through a long process with the US government to aquire funds for the trip and cannot be paid for any services he renders while overseas. At the same time....politicians frequently have dinners, cruises, vacations, gifts and all sorts of other things paid for them. Officially its just a "gift" but everyone knows what that money is being used for. To sum it all up: POLITICS SUCK And the vast majority of politicians are rich white men when the US is not made up of all rich white men. Why do the rich people make the laws?! Thats beyond me. |

LOL @ Telemakhos...hey now, politics don't suck. Modern-day politicians do. Let's not mix the two. If it wern't for politics, the world would be an extremely different place (and not in a good way). Are todays politicians greedy and power-hungry? Unfortunately, yes. Don't crack politics' ass, crack the politicians. You're right, rich white politicians are snobby, but the bottom line is that money ruins people. I know you might disagree, but if you had loads of money and power, its more than likely that you would act the same way. It's a flaw in human nature.
