The blood inside them is dark red and it doesn't reflect light very well. The blood you see when you get hurt is usually venous blood. Arterial blood comes out in spurts. It spurts every time the heart beats. I hope you never see that."

Crap, I guess I need to brush up on my bio... I mean I never took it.

Oh, well... sorry for the misdirection, wasn't thinking too straight.

And Mo0chan, I did graduate elementary school, this many *shows one finger* years ago! :D

Even without the war interpretation. The logo seems to give off a pretty brutal environmental message. Paint flowing over everything natural and such. Seems like their slogan could be presented better.

"Still red is nota common color ofr a logo... its to much an agresive color... blood as always been red!"

I very much agree. And I'm sure we all knew back in our heads way back in the back that it had nothing to do with the wars. But it makes a person wonder. I feel like they shoud really change the logo. I've only seen the bottom part where it only says Sherwin-Williams. Never seen the globe with red paint on it. hrrrmmm makes me wonder what else I've missed in life!!!!

Yes... but those companies use it in a friendly, kind way. Here it is used TO COVER THE EARTH. Just imagine what the world for us, inhabitants of the earth, be like if that really happened. It's an apocalypse. It'll be just like the movie Waterworld, except with thick, red paint in place of the water.

Maybe its thick viscous liquid that replenished life throughout the world, it shouldn't just imply the concept of blood. It can even be jam, eating the world doesn't seem that bad of an idea.

Yes, but it's a paint company. And the liquid is coming out of a paint can. It's pretty obvious that it is not jam, but indeed, red paint.

Yes indeed, red paint. It's no different with any other color. If it were green paint, it can be confused with radioactive material; yellow with human bile; black with evil etc. Colors like blue will blend in with the globe too much, and the only remaining warm color is red or orange. If anything, the red makes it an effective logo because it can capture the attention of the viewer. It most likely was chosen for its effectiveness. If stuff like this deters people from patronizing a company, it's the people at fault, not the logo. As deker said 40 to 60 years ago they probably didn't think about future crisis. After that much time, I don't think SWP would without hesitation redo their logo.

If you think about it, almost all logos depicting some sort of existing object or pattern can be associated with a negative connotation; it's just a matter of subtlety and human stupidity.

Uh huh, yes they sure do. But let me run through this with you!

::Coca-Cola:: backround color, no COVER THE EARTH. Does not look good running over the earth.
::Marlboro:: Cigarettes kill anyway... so go ahead... they can use the color red.
::Target:: Just like a dart board.. no harm in that.
::K-Mart:: It's only the K and don't look harmless.
::Adobe:: It's a software for the computer.. and it don't cover the earth!
::Verizon:: Only a check, ain't it... naah wait.. the V... does not represent any harm.
::Sunoco:: Have no comment on this one. lol
::McDonalds:: No I don't believe so... they're "logo" is the yellow M--I know this b/c I worked there one time.
::Hardees:: ???
Wendy's:: ???
::Arby's:: ???

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I gave up on the last 3!
