I'm in school in my Web Design class. We have NO decent programs at all, and I can't stand it. I have to use clipart for images, and I'm really getting agitated because everyone in this class can't make a site worth **** and chances are mine's going to look their's and it really gets on my nerves. Maybe I'll bring in PS and install it, because there's no way I'm going to be able to make a ****ing site with these ****ty programs. Frontpage is the only thing I'm used to, **** paint, **** clipart. Grrrrrr, I'm so pissed, I'll make the site at home and ****ing bring it in to school or something...probably not though.    |

Tell the teacher you need better programs to learn with. They probably don't have the budget to get decent stuff though. But maybe the teach will let you install PS.

And if you won't be able to install decent software, just fire up MS paint, make pixelGraphics, and code in notepad. It's not that bad. Have fun with some JS or something. Oh, and don't forget to use excessive CSS to make it cool, with less graphics needed. |

I honestly don't believe highschools have the budget for such programs. Since there aren't high tutiton prices to go to highschool :p then its tough to find the funds for specialized programs. That is what college is for. But I do agree with you. I am from a small town, and I knew I wanted to design in highschool, but alas, there were no programs for me to prepare myself with. And back in those days, there is no way I could afford PS or even dl the demo from Adobe. So my advice to you is...Look on the bright side. You already know what you want to do. This is a shame for those who cant experience what graphic design is in highschool, but you already seem to know, which is a plus. Just realize that the resources in the public schools need to satisfy everyone, which is why they buy generic software that everyone can use and understand. They are obligated to get students used to computers, but not the extent that you are looking for. Be happy you have the stuff at home. |

True brilliance reveals itself no matter what you have to work with.

Yea, I'm using CSS, trying to do the best I can with clipart, and CSS and ****. It's a shame I never got around to learning JS :( I just really would enjoy having PS to use, maybe I'll bring it in tomorrow and install, I've installed some games as it is, they won't notice PS.

This is stepping in scary territory, because not only could you get in trouble, you could cause SERIOUS hassles for the school; even worse if the version you have isn't legal to begin with. If you were my student and I caught you doing this, you'd fail the class...no ifs, ands or buts. Do you have an email account that you can access from the lab? If so, make your images at home and retrieve them from the lab. What about removable media? ZIP? CD-R? Portable hard drive? If this isn't possible normally, ask the teacher if you can somehow do this. If you're up front about it the instructor may let you send files to his or her school email account. Then again, they may not. That might be seen as you having an unfair advantage over the students who |
