Yeah, and while we're on the topic of Macs, I'd like one for my birthday. ;) (today)

LOL. :D

And as far the thread title, no I'm not jealous. I like my PC, won't be paying $3,000+ for a Mac anytime soon, maybe if I win the money some way, but even if I did, I'd probably spend it on some PC peripherals, or maybe use it towards a new car seeing as I'm getting my license next week. So, yea, $3,000+ for something I can do on a PC, I don't think so.

Not to offend macs and apples or anything. But..

WindowsXP eats OSX and craps out Mandrakes and Redhats.

/smacks Jester

I have 5 servers running Redhat and its WAY more stable than this crappy XP i'm running. Well.. its not that crappy after much tuning. But the point is I can't keep it running 24/7 without slowing down.

Yea, really. Not offend Jester, well, yeah, actually I am, because only an idiot would say that XP is better than *nix OSes. Sorry.

There aren't that many Macs that cost $3,000+ anymore. You can get a pretty sweet iMac for $1299. And the low-end eMacs and iBooks are both at $999. Plus you have to consider that every Mac except for the PowerMacs has a built in flat screen LCD, which would normally be like $700 by itself. Then you have built-in bluetooth and hi-speed wireless networking into most models. Firewire 800, 4x DVD burners, the iLife suite of programs for free, etc. They are looking pretty damn affordable to me.
