Yeah NVidia uses OpenGL as well as D3D. Gamers are saying that the Radeon 9700 is the fastest gaming card out there and they are dogging NVidia right now....
Its the grafix card that determines whether you are going to use OpenGL, D3D, etc. , and also the software developers that make the drivers for the programs.

seems every 6 mo. the industry-standard changes from ATI to Radeon to NVIDIA - probably keep under-bidding each other to Apple.

I think they are all really good cards, just that one is the graphics-card du jour. Soon, it will rotate back to NVIDIA " Titanium " or Radeon "MX" or some silly crap like that. just to keep us spending money, I guess.
