what's the big diff between the radeon and nvidia cards in 12/17 and 15? is the ddr gonna make much of a diff? and do u think they will be shipping the 15" w/ the same AI instead of the problematic painted Ti build? man my comp keeps restarting before i could finish...i was like 30-some minutes into the powerbook one and it restarted...10 minutes into keynotes and internet drops....bleh i'd have to go w/ either the 17" or the 15" b/c of the 64 MB vid ram. i heard quartz extreme needs atleast 32 MB |

I don't know how much difference there is between the ATI and nVidia, I just figured the nVidia would be faster.

ATI are generally built slower but are way better for overclocking. A well overclocked radeon can usually go faster than an Nvidia. Nvidia is just built fast so you dont need to overclock(thats good if you dont know what your doin). Nvidia just the way the are configured will usually be better for graphics but lack for gaming(if that really matters). ATI is better for gaming. The newest ATI 9000 i believe was/is the fastest card on the market. Im not sure if the GeForce FX is out yet but when it comes out GeForce FX will blow it out of the water and by far be the card of joice for grafix. Now the ideal card for grafix and 3-D rendering would be a Mitsubishi video card (if you have $2000 to buy one) that will basically allow you to make toystory 3 on your home pc if it has the power

Actually it's the Radeon 9700 that is the fastest right now, and yes, the FX will be faster when it comes out. But then the ATI will be faster when it comes out before the next nVidia card... And back and forth just like nVidia and 3dfx did years ago. I don't see where you get ATI being better for games... considering you think the nVidia cards are faster... And a faster video card isn't going to make photoshop or anything like it run any faster.

Don't forget that Apple comps use OpenGL which is oh so much better than the PC equivilant (which i've forgotten...is it Divex or something?) if you wanted to do 3D modelling (like me) or play games.
