My first web site ever!

Its not about the speed the server end provides. Its the speed the user has to download your content. It doesn't matter if the server has a 1 Gbps connection if the visitor has only 5Kbps of speed to transfer that 4mb flash. Its like a huge reservoir behind a dam, but you have only a small tap to take the water out.

You don't need to learn Dreamweaver. Its an optional tool. Learn you HTML and CSS first. That's the skill you need. Understanding how the page is built. You don't build a house with only wood, nails and hammer. You need to know the structure of the house to build it.

HTML is probably the simplest form of coding ever imo.

It's more of the fact the i dont have time to learn everything i need the skill now why wast time learning coding when i can just make the site in dreamweaver and be done with it??

Because just saying that is the same as saying "why do I need to learn how to play the guitar? I'll just pluck some strings not knowing what I'm doing and hope that it sounds good with the band."

dreamweaver is based on html and you have to know the html to properly code it. knowing the html is knowing how it works.


besides html is easy. It takes an hour to learn.

Thats what I'm looking for I'm not looking into being a great web designer or a web deisgner at all. It's nothing like your "guitar exaple" b/c the only reason I made this site was because it's free.I didnt have to pay anyone to build my site for me.It took me just alittle while to learn flash so I did it rather then paying the money for someone else to design it for me...This was just a quick,cheap, and easy way of doing this... Trust me I will never be a web designer even if it's easyer I know more about flash then anything html programs coding everything... Doesn't a person have the right of what they would rather learn even if it's not the way you think they should go about it. I think they should just go about it as they wish even if it doesnt please others and that does include if they are wrong in doing so it is still there choice. ANYWAYS... I was just talking to my brother who doesn't live with me anymore and is a web designer if he would hook me up with a static site so whenever that may be I will have one and then it will be much better to see and then I'll post his work here for ya'll to see. If you don't care at all about webdesign, do yourself a favour then. Just make a big photoshop image with all the text and images as one image. It will be huge, but will probably load faster then your flash site. Of course unless you learn to image map, the site will be nothing but a big picture, but at least you dont have to learn anything.

It's not about "your right" to do something. It's about someone giving you a damn good example as to why your site would be much more effective done in another way. You have all the rights in the world to post whatever you want, but if you really could care less, why post it here in the first place? That's the confusing part.

Btw, I started out doing designs for free. Even my website is free and not to mention Hostradius.com which is making loads of money I did the whole website and backend setup for free(technically). Why does it have anything to do with money?

how would i know that unless i was really into finding out how to do this site..? i needed the fastest way I KNEW maybe i should have said that before... So even if there is a faster and free way to do it doesnt mean i knew of it. Image map?? i have no idea what that is even if you explained it to me i dont think i would get it i find it hard to understand directions offline... maybe i have a.d.d. or somethin i have no idea but like if i want to learn something i have to sit down learn it myself or have someone walk me through it... i'm just gunna have my bro do all the web design for me the reason i didnt do that in the first place is he lives far away and has no time but he came down i showed him the site and said he would help me out so thats just what i'm gunna do.
Spectra i'm srry if i have confused you in anyway let me try to better explain myself on that point... i had no way of making a site other then myself doing it... i had none to teach me.. so if i made a mistake on the site or should have done something different i would learn from that was the reason i posted it and beside the fact i wanted to get the name out but only alittle hehe anyways and the fact that i think it's my right to do as i wont with the site is b/c well it's my right to do as i wish but i have learned from this forum but do not plan on changing it b/c it is of no intrest to me BUT what i do like about learning this stuff is that if i see a person run into the same problem as i have (size of site) i will tell them why they have a that problem. but as i said do not plan on changing my site for the better. of course when my bro is doing it for me...

Took me awhile to learn flash, and I hated it. Anyways, whatever you think its best for band. To us here, we're just giving you the tips as what this section of the forum is for.

the point is this. This forum is a place for critique. If you really didn't care about your site, you shouldn't post it here. Posting it here is a sign that you do care and that you want to make it better by hearing our comments.
