Disposition advice is right on point.

The background is just too busy, people in general don't like to read, if they have to search for the words chances are they won't.
Keep it clean and simple so they can get the message in about 30 seconds, thats about the amount of time it will take them to decide if they want to go.

Make the important text stand out, think about whats going to get people to show up. Things like no cover before 10 pm, drink prices, and type of music...

looks like a poster for a horror movie. its kind of errie, and alot is going on... people are going to be confused as hell when they first read this. odds are they will spend most the of time staring at the flyer, trying to figure out whats going on in the background, and not really get the whole message. if this is what you boss wants... then let him have it, but i think you need to tone it down a little. its too violent and wild.... hey its just my opinion, i do like it, but i think it needs some tweaking

Kayflash,

No offense man but why try to shoot someone down with a mean comment like that? Did it make you feel good? When the client has 200 words (or however many) that HAVE to go on something that is 4 inches by 5 inchies what do you do?

I have been using photoshop for 6 years and proffesionally for 4 years. I was Involved in the retouching of every image on zales.com and have done countless adds for frito's, the dallas cowboys and many other DFW local corporations. I have handled the imaging for 150+ high end jewelry catalouges....the list goes on.

You shouldn't disrespect people...it only hurts the scene and puts a hold on everyones creativity....constructive critisism is one thing but not just plain being mean.

Im sorry you dont like it...It had to have all that info on it...I tried to darken the background and he said no. You know how it is.

Sincerely,
Chris Brown

If you were such a professional and have done soooo many touch ups for sooo many huge companies then my comment shouldn't have even ruffled your feathers. I sense insecurity here. None the less. Filters and plugins are supposed to assist in making an image, they aren't supposed to make the image. They are designed to make things easier.

Also it has nothing to do with disrespect, if I was to disrespect you it would now after you had your little temper tantrum. For a professional you sure don't act like one, you can't even take criticism with out getting all disjointed.

The reason I made my comment is because it's highly filtered and rather distracting but your the big time professional you know that!!

:::PANK::: I'm sorry that Mr. Brown can't handle criticism and had to attack me to defend his credentials, as I am also sorry that I ever made the comment. Had I known it would have turned out like this I would have never made it.:::

you got me all wrong...i meant no offense when i said it. im new to the group and im just not used to the harsheness of teamphotoshop constructive criticism...hehe. I do agree that filters are to assist....the client insisted that it looked like a rave flyer and to me that screams eyecandy! ya know? The only filters were on the bg and some layer effects on the text...there wasnt much to create by hand on this project.

I look forward to posting more of my art soon so maybee it will be a more accurate representation of my work.

Thanks for you advise and criticism...i took it the wrong way. The "Hey, Mom look I have Photoshop!! Need I say more!?!?!??!" line made me mad as it would you or any other experienced photoshopper. Sorry if reacted a little harshly.

See ya,
Chris Brown

The text, the image leveling and fading, the bevel everywhere... that is no way the work of a professional for 4 years. I could have produced a way higher quality image then that, WITH ALL THE WORDS. Sorry but your full of ****t, that image no matter how cluttered it must be isnt the work of a 6 year photoshop vet!

What version was photoshop when you started?
I have yet to meet someone who has had that many well known clients, also those companies dont hire by contract but rather by fulltime... and if they do contract out work it is done by a media firm not some freelancer they found on the internet. Why arent you still designing for these well known corps? Your back to making flyers for small raves that dont even seem to have much bang.

Lets see if there is a difference between a photoshop vet and a real photoshop vet?
