Woohoo apple did an update!!!

I was reading a long article about 64 bit machines. Apple and IBM are working together to create 64 bit machine leaving PCs in 32 bit land. Muhahahah

Downloading Safari public now...that camera/microphone thing looks pretty nice too. Oooh...new AIM with video and sound :D

Hmm...they have stuff on Panther too. Not sure if i like the whole iTunes layout thing...that's a pretty big change in my view. It's great they brought back labelling, can be very handy for backing up files, organising etc.

As someone who has never used the Finder, I must say I really like the new one better. Especially the way you can drag a folder onto your favorites list.

Probably the single most infuriating thing about Windows to me is that almost every single save and open dialog box is completely different for no apparent reason.

Some have a list of icons on the left that have shortcuts to the desktop, my documents, etc. Others don't have that. You can't make Favorite Folders at all. Some are completely different and make up their own boxes with crazy features, or total absence of features. It's madness. Why can't they all just use the same damn save box!? The Favorites thing would be invaluable... I don't know how much time I waste drilling down 5 levels of directories just to save a file. And that adds up when I work on like 40 jobs a day.

64 bit isnt just an IBM and Apple idea. Its been worked on for a while and windows put out a 64 bit 2k server a few years back.
Its kind of up to the hardware dudes to get the product on the market. But on a downside, I have read about windows not supporting 64 bit chips built by AMD. Just another ploy by M$ to rival out Intels leading competitor.

and Utopian - you look like Jesus christ on crack!

Heh heh heh...funny.

Most folks who see that make a comment about Charles Manson.

I just cut (yes..I gave myself the haircut) about 30 inches of my "jesus-hair" off about 6 weeks ago, but haven't shaved since I did that. So I'm still pretty wooly...

What are you planning on doing with the audio Utopian? just playing? or are you going into the cut and paste remix world for Justin Timberlake?

I've been a musician my whole life, but I've never had the good fortune of hooking up with the right dedicated and skillful musicians, nor had the proper multitrack gear, to record the odd Guided by Voices-meets-Steely Dan-meets Zappa-meets Captain Beefheart-meets-the Police-meets-Ornette Coleman-meets-the Grifters-meets-the Beatles-meets- Sonic Youth music that has been bouncing around inside my head.

So I'm going to do it all myself.

No one said apple created the first 64bit CPU... But it is the first to be marketed at consumers as a desktop machine. Xeons are only in high-end workstations and servers so far...
