Hydro, I was NOT slamming your site. I said I like a site that makes me say "Damn, good Idea" and said it about YOUR site. I've been doing print graphics since 1987, so thats probably the reason I liked your site. I also don't think of that design as "trendy" or whatever, I think of it as original. But you really should look into the Netscape thing. :D I initially hit your site at work (Mac + Netscape) and could see the splash page, but nothing past that. I hit it again when I got home in IE. and you are right Joshua, I like your work |

The design of hydro's site may not be what the current trend is, but it's pretty close to it. Enfest, Amentia and several other sites have moved toward designing layouts based on some scans or stockphotos. I like the style. But I wouldn't say typewriter fonts and collages built from scans/photos will be the next trend. But I could be wrong. It would be really terrible to see that happen too. I love seeing that style so much. |

If you looked at the metro/sea site that hydra posted. You open it and you see a pretty nice splash, I liked that. You clicked on it and a pop-up appeared, then you can see how trends are somehow missabused. The top of the image is really nice, you could say that's my favorite style, clean but still a bit dirty. But then right in the middle of that picture... tiny letters. WTF is that doing there. Mayby he thought it was cool, but it absolutely doesn't belong there. |

don't sweat it, i was reading real quick at work, it's cool, i saw that you weren't slamming the site, just read it too quickly. i wouldn't say my site is a trend or current trend or whatever. i could really care less because all i wanted to do is something that i enjoyed doing. pretty simple. i believe trend is what you want it to be. trend that i think should lay off or do something new is the whole design portal news thing. it's great to get some hits to your site, but really, i think you should push your ideas further and offer more to the community than just free desktops and links. what i love to see is when people put up open source files such as .psd, .eps, etc. see how things were and are created. i guess that is why i put up free vector. by the way, i'm going to have some more work posted hopefully tomorrow and more vector downloads tomorrow. joshua hydro |
