Oh man.... a liberal!

Perhaps you should use an image editor you can afford
Like MS Paint?

P.S. Isn't Chattanooga, TN the headquarters of AOL?

If you can't afford something, you don't use it. It's a pretty simple concept. I don't understand how you think Adobe owes it to you to let you use their professional-level image editor so you can make your signature for a messageboard. Use Paint Shop Pro or the Gimp or any other number of apps if you can't afford PS.

I have no idea if AOL is headquartered here. Not that I know of though.

Photoshop= $700
that means if only one million people buy it they make $700 million! WTF?
I'm sure they make at least 50 BILLION DOLLARS a year. If they really care if someone who can't afford it downloads it, they are some greedy bastards and you should download it anyway.

I don't care how hard it was to program Photoshop, one program is not worth 50 BILLION DOLLARS unless it can save the earth.

atomicfog, i'm getting sick of your posts. First you say everyone should post every 7 minutes. Now you say people should intentionally rip products that they can't pay for.

If they cna't pay for it then obviously they aren't entitled to the rights to use it.

Look. Regardless of how greedy you may think Adobe is, they aren't frickin Halleburton or Enron or Tyco or one of those companies. They make damn fine products with high integrity and they deserve the money that they make. What do you mean they don't care if people download it? Obviously if just one person downloads it then the money lost may not be much compared to the money gained from the product in total, but the principle is still the same. They are still getting ripped of money. Plus, if OMG 50 BILLION PEOPLESE A YEAR download it thinking that they're the only one, then that's obviously 50 billion times the profit lost.

I don't care how hard it was to program Photoshop, one program is not worth 50 BILLION DOLLARS unless it can save the earth.

Is it worth the money if it completely revolutionizes the media, the internet, and in essence all of civilized culture itself? Turn on the TV, go on the computer... it's impossible to find something that in some way hasn't been touched by photoshop.

I will be completely honest, I use a pirated version of Photoshop. And I am ashamed of it. I understand fully that I should not use it. But I don't parade around the fact that I use a pirated version, and you really shouldn't either. Simply put, it ain't a ****ing thing to be proud of.

What in the good lord's name does that have anything to do with Deker's post? Is his post supposed to be diminished in value because it's written by someone who lives near the AOL Headquarters? Well, with that kind of logic, I guess it becomes legitimate to steal copyrighted material after all. Let's have a bash! < /sarcasm>

Hey, I said I am sorry for my other post, but I have a point here.
Obviously everyone isn't going to agree with what I say.

Hey, I bought my Photoshop, and I wouldn't be proud if I downloaded it either.
But it is such a great program, and I think $700 bucks is alot of money to spend on it.
Even if for some odd reason everbody in the world downloaded it, businesses still have to buy it, and Adobe would still be be making billions of dollars off of Photoshop alone.

The fact that Adobe is doing "well enough" with just businesses doesn't justify stealing it.

What happened to the American dream? Where you can be as good as you want to be, as long as you work at it? Why does Adobe have to just settle for good "enough"? or Popular "enough"?

Adobe makes at least 50 billion a year just from Photoshop. With all of their products they make around 500 billion a year if not more... That is more than doing "well enough."

There are smart people out there under 16 who don't have a job and have no way of getting one, who deserve to be able to use photoshop.
I don't thing pirating it is right, but I don't think it is horribly wrong either.

This is my opinion on the matter, and I am open minded in hearing what you have to say. I learn something new at forums every day.

Photoshop is around 300 dollars with student discount. 16 year olds can afford that much after making a few sacrifices.

Well, or they can save their 300 dollars, since that is all of their christmas and birthday money for one year, and download it.

If my company made 500 billion dollars a year I wouldn't mind if a few million people downloaded my programs.
Besides, if Adobe cared about the people who download it they would have much better protection from crackers.

500 BILLION a year? AAAAahahahahahah. Adobe only makes around 400 million a quarter in gross revenue. That adds up to barely 1.6 billion a year, and that's just revenues, not profits. The profits they make are drastically less than that.

Your logic is not logical at all. If someone sets a price for something that they have created, you either pay that price, or you don't use it. That is the only logic. You aren't Robin Hood. People can charge whatever they want, and they should be paid for it if you want to use that product. No one has the "right" to use Photoshop if they can't afford it. If you can't afford Photoshop, then you use Paint Shop Pro or something cheaper. 16 year olds don't have a "right" to use Photoshop just because they are 16 and don't have high-paying jobs. There is just no point in even arguing about this, because there is no argument.

If you pirate Photoshop, that's your own business, the really ridiculous part is when people parade around acting like Adobe somehow owes it to you.
