I think that looks great eyewoo... but im not sure I understand the technique that your using. You start off with a referance photo, then really distort it and try to kindof recreate the original, but still leaving some of the displacement texture in there...? Im not really sure I get it :P

That's sort of the way to see it, but not quite accurate. I don't really try to recreate the original... rather use the distorted under image much like an initial wash underneath traditional paint. Then I use the reference photo as a guide to produce the likeness... but not to "recreate the original." Not much point in that.
