I hated all the dpi and resizing...and all that stuff... I got crazy with that. That's why I now just use illustrator for print work and photoshop for web graphics. Works for me. And it's so much easier this way... |

Just to clear something up. Photoshop uses vector masks to create true vector artwork for postcript printers. Vectors cannot be shown on the web in their true form unless they are within the boundaries of a flash player. You can create all the vectors you like in Photoshop so you can resize and suchlike until you are blue in the face. As soon as you click "Save for web" or "Save As" Photyshop rasterises the images straight away for you. Hope this helps Here are some common Vector file extensions for your reference .eps .ai .swf .dcf .dcs .dxf .FH8/9/10 .soditcostheresloads :p |

great effort there Chrisz0rz, exploring the Pen/Paths tool will get you a smooth looking vector style, for sure..... i'v passed this thread a couple of times and couldn't resist but to join...and for all whos intentions are helpful, BUT to outrightly proclaim that Photoshop does not do vectors is a gawd awful shame and no wonder threads like this are confusing to some, especially to the author who is trying to learn it..... if your so convinced on what Photoshop can't do, keep it to your self, other wise be PREPARED to back up what your saying to the fullest.... PHOTOSHOP DOES SUPPORT VECTORS now unless Adobe architectures were high on drugs when they posted this >> http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/keyfeature1.html then forgive me... humm, apparently, since version 6 'Superb vector support'.... imagine that, gee i wonder if they meant 'raster support' .... i seriously doubt it... PHOTOSHOP IS NOT JUST FOR PIXELS ANYMORE' .... thats a quote from TotalTraining.com introducing version 6 new VECTOR CAPABILITIES.... imagine that, i wonder if they meant raster.... >> View the full movie here http://www.apple.com/creative/resources/ttphotoshop/626vectors.html hope this blows the confusion away caused by some cheers best quakes heathrowe |

Wow, seems to be alot of confusion.......I think when people are talking about vector graphics on this site, they are mostly speaking of a "style" of work....I've seen vector graphics that are almost photo realistic....and I've seen rasterized stuff that looks like "Vector" graphics. Doesn't seem like something to argue about....My 2 cents...heheh See ya all, Jim |
