This i started from scratch. I made an outline of the face in Illustrator....and brought it into PS as a guide to paint. First i layed down the basic shapes/colors...then shaded/highlights...then added some muscle like texture. The idea behind this is the face is supposed to be all muscle and the skin is supposed to be tacked onto the wall next to it (havent done this yet). It supposed to represent like who you are...or who you want to be..or who you try to be. Like your personality...and how you change it say in public versus with friends or similar (something like this anyhow......you get the idea). Anyway 5 hours later....here's what i got Face Suggestions are good! Rip it apart lol. Im not quite sure about about the ear for starters ( i think the ear looks great) but it doesnt really seem to come forward..off the head like it should. Edit: Added details - Orig. 17inX9in @ 300dpi (11x17 wide) Also im going for semi-realism (almost). I dont want to not resemble a face...but in not trying to be as realistic as possible. |

it's very nice man - I think the boney (or bloody) ridge on the temporal is throwing the ear off...also a bit more shade under the earlobe wouldn't hurt I think - but it's great work... I would also try to make the "regular" skin- the lips and nosetipa bit ^above the bloody muscles...like maybe the edge would show a little depth - the way they are now it looks like the red tissue is above the flesh... |

when doin pieces i first start out wiv a colour and outline. fill it at texture then dodge and burn to add highlight and shading. i think your peice is too flat atm, just ad dodge near the top of the head (be careful tho, sinue and body stuff wont be too shiny!(small brush ;) )) and dodge near the chin and neck. keep in mind where the light is! :D Good piece tho !! :D:D |

Yeah i gotta agree...it kinda looks a little flat. I think i'll add another layer and shade the head as a whole...not just shade the muscles. "I think the boney (or bloody) ridge on the temporal is throwing the ear off" I think you hit the nail on the head with that one. It seems to be causing a problem. Thnx for the feedback! |

Sneaky, you stuck your e-mail in there twice (found it when I was trying to figure out which boney/bloody ridge thing everyone was talking about, I could see the ear seemed off, but I didn't know what in there could be throwing it off). I like it though, I'm pretty much amazed at anything I see around here though, I can't do anything as of yet. :( I've read tuts and stuff and can get various techniques down, I just have a hard time getting any artistic vision. Unfortunatly same thing goes for any other arts stuff I do (ie my poetry/music composition/sketches/photos). I'm wonderin' what the bg is gonna be, unless by wall you literally meant a wall so it'd look like a mural, that'd be cool too though |

"Sneaky, you stuck your e-mail in there twice" Might be more than that lol. Im a pro at watermarking lol. I think the most watermarks ive put into an image was around 15.(it was a trendy kinda image...that ppl would want to steal). Well i havent quite decided on a bg....but it think it will be a wall (like the head is standing infront of the wall). I originally wanted to put a coat rack...so the head "hangs up" the faces on the coat rack...but that'd be a little more difficult. |

Huh? I'm a bit confused, how would the head "hang up" faces on the coat rack? (I searched around for a sec, so I'm not entirely lazy, I was just wondering if someone could quickly explain to me what watermarking is and/or how you do it?) *Edit* I think I figured out what you meant by the coat rack idea, correct me if I'm wrong though (or confirm if I'm right :p ). It would just be an implied image, you'd have a coat rack with "faces" hanging off of it like coats that the muscle head would wear and would "hang up" on the coat rack. I had thought you'd somehow make the head look like it was doing the action of hanging up a face on the coat rack (or are you going to do that?). Once again Kudos for the awesome job . (I miss Kudos, I've stopped eating them, are they gone altogether, or have I just stopped looking? :p ) |

Updated: - Face re-sculpted . The original muscles look more like organs (my mother said one looked like a heart). Everything was too round and non-face like. So i reshaped it (and i love the new one) - Re-shaded everything. then added highlights...then shaded some more. - Added a brand new texture. The first texture was too "painting" like. The second (which was really hard...and i dont have a steady hand) looks more realistic (or i think so anyway...it atleast helps to define the curves!) - The ear I re-shaded/colored...then added a drop shadow. Now it kinda comes forward off the head nicely! -Removed the giant ridge..... -re-shaded the head (as a whole..not just muscle) so it looks more round and head like lol. Old on top.....New on bottom : Face_Updated :-) ---------------------------------------------------- Exactly! The faces (original meaning in first post) are something that the head (assume there is a body..but im framing the image like this on purpose ) would put on/take off and hang up just like any piece of clothing (hat/coat/shirt etc.). As to a Watermarking....its simply just putting text or an image over your work to basically establish copyright/ownership etc. You can just use the text tool in photoshop... or add a picture/ logo..or even use photoshops built in watermark (Filters>Digimarc>Embed watermark). Basically you do this so ppl dont steal your images you post on the net. It doesnt always stop them...but it cant hurt lol. |
