Now there is nothing wrong with learning and having fun. But you arent helping the "learning". Your comment is about just having fun......"photoshopping is fun..that should be reason enough".

Also may I point out one of the many meanings of art:

Skill and imagination. That requires effort and a purpose!!!! Also art ISNT easy. And its not about making it look good for other ppl. Its about effectively communicating a message visually. Other ppl will respond according to how well your message got across.

Going back to NL's comment:

Obviosly Ging3r^ didnt get any message across (if there was a message to begin with). Thats not a problem though. Thats completely ok. Ive done stuff that didnt work either. Its a learning experience. And as NL said "try harder" next time.

I could argue this all day...but im not going to. If you take anything from these post....let it be the idea of helping...trying to make more meaningful posts!

(also as a side note- i dont usually start out with a plan/purpose. I take an idea or a feeling..and let it mature and morph into something better. But in the end I have a purpose!!)

Plus, yes it is art, even to just have a blank page. Check out a lot of modern art these days. xD But seriously, it's still art. Is it good? Well beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and yeah if you post something that's crap, many people will tell you it's crap.

Creating art is EASY, dude.

I guess thats the attitude I hate. It's not easy. Sure... everyone can make a pic and say it's art. "...you don't like it? You just don't understand it man, it's art!...." But thats SO not true.
Real artists work with a passion, not just because they can.
They start with an assignment, brainstorm and finish the pic.

And of course it's fun to play around with photoshop and find out new stuff. I have like hundreds if not thousands of files that are just garbage. I don't show them to everyone. And if you're new to this all, you perhaps don't know quite yet what people like to see... what amazes people, I guess thats the idea here... Telling people what looks good and what not.

Just like rodder454 said, start to make a pic with a certain feeling or idea. thats when one can say he makes art, when the people that look at the pic get a feeling. That is what art is about... emotion.

It's Creating art that others enjoy and appreciate that's hard to do.

You see? You completely manipulated my quote to back up your argument. You changed the meaning of what I said.

But what you guys don't understand (And this is something you can't argue against) Is that different people have different opinions. I am of the opinion that art is anything (at least for our purposes) graphic, but that making GOOD art is difficult. You are of the opinion that the piece of work isn't art UNTIL it's good, or pleasureable to the eye, or whatever.

You guys must have skipped over this line:

You see? I had already stated that I realized that you guys would have a different idea of art from me. What one considers art, another considers just random filters.

When you said the thing about "You dont understand it, man, it's art!" You might disagree with it, but you must realize that almost every modern artist works with that rule protecting them. I agree, I think modern art is utter crap, but that doesn't mean it's not art. It also falls under the category of "art without purpose". If it wasn't art, it wouldn't be hanging in a museum, would it?


NL, another line you seem to have skipped from my first post:

trhaynes has a point, don't go posting every single damn thing that you make, but do me a favor and disregard NL. Design without a purpose all you want.

You see? I already said not to post every damn thing you make.

What I said was that designing wihtout a point is fine. I never said to flaunt it. I never said to show it to everyone. Keep it to yourself, yes, is probably the best method. But it's still something to keep, if not for everyone else, then at least for yourself.

I forgot to say this last post, but I'm sorry about the "Disregard NL" thing. rodder was right, though. You should never disregard any comment. Sorry about that.

Well, that's all I have to say, but since MY opinion is wrong (impossible though it is), I guess that leaves me no point to write further.

Just one more thing, please read ALL of the post(s) before replying, because you guys are trying to argue points that I've already settled.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. it's an alright pic, perfect for a wallpaper or something.
