Does anybody use FrontPage Express? I know it's old as hell but I've found it to be very fast since most of the work I do is with graphics and then placing them in tables for HTML. Then I go through the code in arachnophilia for everything else. Am I alone? |

i would think so. i know i never have and never will use frontpage express. well, i HAVE used it, for maybe an hour when i first came in contact with a decent computer about 3-4 years ago, but haven't touched it since. if you find it fast, and easier to use, then use it by all means. that's why i'm one of the only ones here that uses frontpage, i find it faster and easier to use than DW or writing out all the code in notepad. it's alright to be a loner, as long as it get's the job done. :D |

I Have used Frontpage for a long time.... But when I add class about Dreamweawer I totally abandon Frontpage! While Frontpage may do the work you will have a hard time doing more advanced stuff (Frontpage is good for intranet and simple webpage) going for an advanced look (ie by using slice) is running after trouble... belive me!!! Also Frontpage always add a lotdsof useless code and is own tags (like the one who say its made with frontpage)And it tend to force you do do thing in the microsoft way.... wich can get really anoying really fast! If you want to make an easy to do webpage go for frontpage... If you want something beter go for something elese (like DW) |

Bah. Negative on the Frontpage Express. Why have to read the code and extra time because frontpage writes bad html? Do yourself a favor and invest some cash in a good HTML editor. If you still want a wysiwyg with other cool stuff, get DreamWeaver. Personally, I use Homesite 5. And it's not always about the end result. It's only the end result when you are designing for yourself. When you are designing for a client, it's about cost and the end result together. The end result could be amazing, but if you put in too many hours fixing code, then someone is getting cheated and I bet it's not your client. |

but if you don't mind fixing code, like i do, then it's fine :D maybe that's why im better at coding than designing :D |

I used Frontpage way before I knew about web design. And hell I had no idea how to use it. :P I tried Dreamweaver but it still pissed me off. Abandoned the whole area for a few months, hopped back in with just HTML coding... Then somewhere along the line when I got Photoshop, I went into graphics as well. And this was like maybe... 2-3 years ago.

frontpage is the antichrist of webdesign -- if you like to do your own stuff and write your own code then use an html editor (i LOVE cutehtml, it works for html, php, perl etc.) but if you must use a wysiwyg use DW or the likes. Front page takes a 22 line 4k page and just by opening and saving in frontpage you get 37 lines and 12k all the MSO code!! which btw will kill the site for anyone using anything other than IE. -- thats just my opinion
