Not being biased, but your best bet would be Cinema 4D. It's the cheapest, yet it's superior to 3DSM. It also comes with a 'shatter' deformation tool.

Bryce is for landscapes.

3DSM makes things look all plasticy

Lightwave is good, and expensive (but you wouldn't be paying for it anyway) but the render times suck ass.

As far as i know, AD is a peice of dog crap and is nothing compared to 3DSM.

Get C4D, you can do anything with it (except n-sided polygons, but you won't need them)

dont compare dimension with 3dsmax it not the same.
Dimension is a program for simpel 3d object, its easy to use, but nothing more
Bryce is for landscape as cybling boy say, and its cool if u like to make 3d fast and easy, but u dont learn anything about 3d by using it.

Cyblingboy
3DSM makes thinks look all plasticy. WTF do u mean, thats the most stupid thing i have heard in really long time.

Nothing.....

Yeah, 3DSM makes things look plasticky beacuse of their lighting config..the lights tend to be to 'bouncy'.

Cybling boy dont know where u have read that, but it would be great to see it. I dont belive it, maybe u should try to use 3dmax if u get it too bouncy maybe something wrong with your skills, but thats only something u can improve
But some facts would be great, dont think its for fun 3dmax its one of the most used 3d software in the world
I look forward to some respons

Ok, well if you're prepared to critized my 3D skills, how about you show me some of yours. It's a matter of opinion, and to be honest, i can't tell you where i've seen that comment, because it's plastered all over most 3D forums where professional 3D artists come and talk about their program. Your sarcasm is not appreciated either.

its a matter of opinion.

imo, i don't see the plasticy look. he's just defending a program that he has come to love to use and doesn't like it when someone bashes it. wouldn't you do the same for cinema?

and i'm not defending anyone here, im just saying what's on my mind
