I find it sad that all you have to do is post about my spelling mishaps.... I'm from Alabama.... read the statistics. |

Its not all I have to do at all. I just happened to notice it misspelled several times during the post. I didn't even take notice as to who misspelled it.

I find it curious that someone who has chosen to point out another's misspelling initially misspelled "misspelled." "Perhaps my patients are wearing thin," said the eating disorder specialist to his detractors. |

There is a difference between a typo and not knowing how to spell a word. So I missed the S key once while typing it. Not only did I make the typo on only one of the two instances the word was used in my post, but I also corrected it within a few minutes. Thus, I know how to spell the word. Nice try though.

All I'm saying is, if one is going to point out the mistakes of others, one ought to make absolutely bloody positive that they are without a similar fault during the course of their finger-pointing. Second chances don't count. There are typos, and there are brain-farts. I'm certainly anal-retentive about some things, but only where it makes an informational difference. I can overlook accidental misspellings and/or uninformed misuse of homonymous words. Where I go crazy is when someone is offering a piece of information where absolutely correct spelling makes a difference, e.g. giving someone a name to do a search for. If the neophyte isn't given the correct spelling they may never find what they're looking for. We often do a disservice to those we aim to help if we're not diligent in our spelling in such cases. Our efforts to help are misleading at best, and could even be harmful in a worst-case-scenario. |
