Adobe Photoshop CS3 SAVE QUESTION !

I have Adobe Photoshop CS3, but when i press file save as the file extensions do not save. The image just saves as example.file. It saves as a .file instead of a .png for example. Also if it saves as a .jpeg when i press file save or save as it says ".jpeg already exists overwrite? when there is not .jpeg in the first place :(.

I fixed this problem before, by going to somewhere in the registry section. start>run>regedit>etc. But i cannot remember where the file was, i remember i had to delete the "default value", but cannot remember where it was. :(

Could somebody help please.

Photoshop> Preferences>File Handling>append file extentions> Always(default)

I work with a lot of jpeg files so I have prefer adobe camera raw for jpeg files checked off also.But I'll be honest I have never changed it. Must be default settings

if it save as a .png it saves,but if i save as a .jpeg or bmp,etc it still saves as a .png or it says .jpeg already exists :(,etc

just add another name to it or ***a.jpg. It sounds like it is just telling you the file name your trying to save is already taken......... I could be wrong but that's what your line " it says .jpeg already exists" is telling me

i am not a newbie to photoshop i have been using photoshop for 2 years, and i recently installed windows xp, however when i installed photoshop this problem oocured, and i fixed it by deleting something from the registry but i cannot remember what it was :(.

p.s i tried your tip and it still doesn't work :(

check your CS4 MATLAB files>Required folder?Just a guess
