I have a set of JPG images of stock. What I want to do is to resize the original picture to 153 pixels high then place an layer on top of the resized image of a Jar with a transparent centre. That will make it look like the stock image is inside the jar. I've tried recording an action and doing a batch, but it didnt work. How can I do this so that I dont have to do every image one at a a time, I must be able to automate it.... I'm running Photoshop CS3 HEEELLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!! |

really wish I could help you!!! but the only thing I have done with batches is batch changed the file type and the dpi, the programme I used for this is irfanview, I only downloaded it and used it for the first time 2 days ago so no idea what else it does yet as haven't had time to find out, so you could look it up and see what it does? that's all I got, sorry. If you know anything about quick masks, please look at my help request |

There is no reason why creating an action and then running a batch can not do what you want. I run actions/batch on many occasions for various reasons without problems What exactly "didn't work" when you made your action? |

it didnt bring in the Jar layer and then saved the image as the same image, over and over again.

When you made the action, how did you tell the program to drop the image of the jar in? Did you use the "Place" command? I just tried making an action to place a file from my desktop into another file, and it worked fine. I don't see any reason why yours won't work. Try making the action again, with these steps in this order: 1. Resize the image to the desired size using Image > Size 2. Place the image of the jar using the Place command from the File menu (this will place the image into the center of your document as a Smart Object; any adjustments you need made to this would probably best be made before you place it into the new file, to cut down on steps in the action) 3. That should be it. Now you can go to File > Automate > Create Droplet and set the destination to "Save and Close." I just tested this on a dummy file and it worked fine. If you need the files flattened, it might be best to set up a separate action to flatten them and then do that in another batch and save copies (in case you need to keep the originals editable). But otherwise add flatten to the end of your first action. Let me know if this helps. |

Hi, thank you very much for replying, its most appreciated. I had never used the "Place" command before and it worked a treat getting that layer onto an image. When I created a droplet though and tried to run it it did one of two things. Either said I didnt have permission to do the action OR did the batch but didnt save the files to anywhere, just converted them then closed them. |
