There is no read me file with the update download. Might be different with a mac, but this is what it says on the site. Installation instructions After downloading a ".exe" file in Windows, double-click on the ".exe" file to access the file's contents. Need help with downloading? See our Downloading Help documents. To install the Photoshop 7.0.1 update: 1. Disable all virus protection software. 2. Double-click the Setup.exe file. 3. Follow the onscreen instructions. If the updater reports that it cannot find the application to update, please reinstall Photoshop 7.0, then run the updater. So what user end problem I am still tryin to figure out what you are talking about... |

>>If the updater reports that it cannot find the application to update, please reinstall Photoshop 7.0, then run the updater. << I'm the end user. I've reinstalled PS7 several times (yes, I do read the instructions) and it still can't find PS7 when I go to install the update, even if i browse and point it to the directory. By the term "Updater", I take that to mean the update utility under the Help menu. I've run that and it reports "No Updates were found". The help menu "about Photoshop reports version 7.0. Just a thought: I bought PS7 off of eBay as a "used" version (I know, I know... to my dismay it came by courier from the seller who turned out to be in The Urkraine), so is this a serial number/adobe registration problem and I'm basically screwed until I buy a new full version? |

That is what I am saying. If it warrants posting on their site to re install PS, then it is a bug. Next update will probably fix that.

I am talking about that binary installer you download from adobe to update and patch bugs in their software. If there wasnt a problem with the installer you wouldnt need to read a line that says to "reinstall PS". I searched google for this and it seems the adobe site is the only what that mentions this. I dont think it affects everyone, and I dont think I installed PS or the installer in some retarded fashion. There isnt any mystery in a binary installer. Its click - then follow the rabbit into the hole.

There is an installer/updater that checks for updates that I downloaded from: http://www.adobe.com/products/update/main.html This seems to be more associated with the Adobe Studio though.... From with in PS, under the top menu: Help|Updates, it checks and reports that no updates are available.... |
