Well I posted the picture on my host for you. I took a look at it and am not sure what is causing this. The .jpg looks fine. But if anyone else has any ideas here it is:

okay, not really sure why the image looks like this.. But, when did you install Illustrator? and what version do you use? Hva you tried to reinstall PS?.. could you please send me the original image? [email]pixelchick@pixelchick.dk[/email] ...

You STILL haven't described very well HOW your images look bad in Photoshop, and if the JPG doesn't show it, you're going to HAVE to try a little harder finding the right words.

Assuming that your hardware is in good shape I ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE that if images that look good in other applications but have a color cast or are just plain WAY off, color-wise, in Photoshop, you need to create a NEW monitor profile. Trying to fix a corrupted profile will not work.

Go to Ian Lyon's Computer Darkroom site and find the appropriate articles to read. His site has helped thousands of people with the same problems I'll bet you're having.

EDIT: Additional info I just ran across that may or may not apply in your case:

"If you are running under Windows XP with a Nvidia video card, the NVIDIA driver helper service overrides Adobe Gamma Loader from operating. If you meet those conditions the fix is to open "control panel"/"administrative tools"/"services". Then highlight the "NVIDIA driver helper service", right click and open properties. In the "Startup Type" drop down list change from Automatic to Disabled.

Every time you reinstall a new NVIDIA driver it enables the service again and you have to repeat the disable process. "

Hey Utopian, the link that I posted is what the image looks like from a screen shot. The .jpg I was refering to in my comment was the source image (I presume) that looks fine, but the screen shot image she sent me is what her photoshop is showing and thus the problem. It is hard to tell what is causing the problem from the screenshot. I checked image type (RGB - fine.), bit depth, resolution, etc. and they were all normal from the screenshot she sent me, which should mean that her start up preferences are normal.

Reply to the Nvidia problem. I have Nvidia and I tried the hint from above. No Luck!
I just spent 4 days with Photoshop help where they charge you $20.00 to solve problems. No Luck! they said they did all they could and the problem was not solved, so they cancelled my request without charging. I felt like I had been abandoned. I really hope someone here can figure it out. I am desperate.
Another thing is; I installed this version of Photoshop on another computer to see if the software maybe was corrupt. It worked great on the other computer!

I'd suggest taking your problem to the Adobe User-to-User Forum, but we'll be telling you the same thing over there.

Have you tried turning down your hardware video acceleration? I have to guess at some of this stuff here, because I'm a Maccer....but I've read so many pleas from Windows Users with similar problems, and this might help.

One thing to note. NVidia drivers are issued for public use before it is certified by microsoft. If you search around their driver list for your OS, if you update to the most recent, that doesnt mean you should install it.

So what you might want to do is go to NVidia's site, locate your driver and on the right hand side where the Navigation is, click on the driver archive. You will see a list of drivers from the most recent. Where the latest driver has 'WHQL" certified, install that one.

But first un install your current driver before doing so. Should be an easy step using the uninstall program tool.
